Software Engineer

What you will be doing:

  • Design, develop, and evaluate software from concept through production stage, and make modifications as needed, to meet customer needs and fit within the capabilities of both new and legacy systems.
  • Research, develop, and maintain a C++ and Qt based project for embedded in-vehicle operator interface.
  • Create and maintain software architecture/design and public interface documentation for internal teams.
  • Work with internal application software teams on deployment/troubleshooting, guidelines, and best practices.
  • Apply system-level thinking and problem solving; connect software design with system constraints and customer scenarios.
  • Determine purpose, application, estimated scope, and feasibility of new or enhanced existing software.
  • Coordinate engineering efforts and provide general engineering assistance to internal teams or external customers.
  • May provide or assist with demo or training needs as they relate to new or existing software.


What you'll need to be successful:

Essential:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience with a Bachelor's degree; minimum of 1 year of experience with a Master's degree; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 1+ years of experience with C++, preferably in a Linux embedded system.
  • Strong proficiency with modern C++ required (e.g., C++17 standard).
  • Thorough knowledge of software product development and procedures.
  • Solid software development fundamentals including unit testing, build automation, branch-based development, and modern documentation practices.
  • Good understanding of CMake.
  • Travel is likely 1-3 weeks per year.


Preferred:

  • Software configuration CI/CD and build experience.
  • Experience with CAN/J1939 or other automotive communication protocols.
  • Experience in an Agile software development environment.
  • Fluent in English, both written and verbal.
