Responsibilities

BoConcept is building a new Tech Hub in Skopje and is looking for a Senior Backend Developer to play a key role in shaping and evolving its global digital commerce platform. This role is ideal for a senior backend engineer who thrives in modern cloud-native environments and enjoys building scalable APIs, integrations, and commerce services that power customer-facing digital experiences. You will work closely with frontend, product, platform, and architecture teams to modernize a complex e-commerce ecosystem currently supported by external agencies.

You will contribute to establishing stronger internal ownership of backend services while helping define engineering standards, API architecture, cloud practices, and development workflows that support long-term scalability and reliability. The role combines hands-on engineering with architectural thinking, cross-functional collaboration, and influence on the future backend engineering direction within the new Tech Hub.

What you will do

• Backend engineering & architecture
• Develop and maintain backend services using C# and modern .NET technologies
• Design, build, and optimize scalable APIs supporting BoConcept's digital commerce ecosystem
• Contribute to backend architecture decisions with focus on maintainability, scalability, and operational reliability
• Design and optimize data models, database structures, and service integrations
• Collaborate closely with frontend teams around APIs, contracts, and data flows
• Improve system performance, resilience, monitoring, and operational maturity
• Help establish backend engineering standards, conventions, and best practices

Commerce & integrations

• Build and maintain integrations across commerce, content, personalization, translation, and payment platforms
• Support commerce workflows including product catalogs, pricing, carts, checkout, payments, orders, and customer journeys
• Contribute to the migration away from CommerceTools towards BoConcept's future commerce architecture
• Work with various third-party platforms and integration partners
• Ensure secure, reliable, and scalable integration patterns across the ecosystem

Cloud & platform engineering

• Develop and maintain cloud-native services within the Azure ecosystem
• Contribute to Infrastructure-as-Code initiatives using Bicep and related tooling
• Participate in CI/CD processes and deployment automation
• Improve observability, logging, monitoring, and operational excellence
• Support safe release processes and continuous improvement initiatives

Team collaboration & mentoring

• Mentor and support other backend engineers
• Participate in technical discussions, code reviews, and hiring processes
• Help foster a collaborative, quality-focused engineering culture
• Work closely with frontend, DevOps, QA, product, and business teams in cross-functional setups

Must-Have Qualifications (Non-Negotiable)

Backend engineering

• Strong experience with C# and modern .NET development (.NET 8+ preferred)
• Experience building and maintaining RESTful APIs in production environments
• Strong understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and backend best practices
• Experience developing scalable and maintainable backend services
• Strong understanding of asynchronous programming and distributed systems concepts
• Experience working within modern Git-based development workflows

Data & persistence

• Strong experience with SQL databases and relational data modeling
• Experience with Entity Framework (EF Core) or equivalent ORM frameworks
• Experience designing and optimizing database schemas, queries, and migrations
• Understanding of performance optimization and database scalability considerations

Commerce & integrations

• Experience working with e-commerce platforms or digital commerce solutions
• Strong understanding of commerce flows including carts, checkout, payments, product catalogs, pricing, and order management
• Experience integrating third-party APIs and external systems
• Experience consuming and exposing REST APIs
• Familiarity with authentication, authorization, and secure integration practices

Cloud & engineering practices

• Experience working with Azure or similar cloud platforms
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation
• Understanding of Infrastructure-as-Code principles
• Experience with monitoring, logging, and operational support of production systems
• Collaboration
• Strong communication and stakeholder collaboration skills
• Experience working in cross-functional product teams
• Ability to balance technical excellence with business priorities
