Elixir Engineer — Remote (UK and Europe)
Are you an Elixir engineer who wants to write production code and ship features that real users feel every day?
A hospitality startup whose product is already live and busy, about to close its Series A.
📍 Remote across the UK and Europe. European hires work on a B2B basis
💷 £60,000 to £80,000 potentially £90,000 or €70,000 to €90,000 potentially €100,000, plus equity
🤝 Interview Process: 2 stages, an introduction call with the Founder, then a paired programming session with the tech team
Tech Stack: Elixir · PostgreSQL · AWS
The product is live and doing real volume, with Series A funding about to close. This is a small team building software the hospitality industry depends on to run its day.
The platform already has:
- 100M+ transactions across multiple venue types
- Around 500GB of structured transactional data
- A strong data foundation that is ready to be scaled
The next step is turning that foundation into a richer, more capable product. That is where you come in.
You will own backend features end to end, from scoping with product through to shipping and maintaining them in production.
The Role:
You will work closely with the team to scope and build features, bring down some existing tech debt, and help shape the product as you learn it. Your ideas count as feedback, not noise. This is hands-on engineering with direct customer impact, not maintenance work behind three layers of approval.
What You Will Be Doing:
- Scoping and building features alongside product
- Writing production ready Elixir with performance and long-term maintenance in mind
- Writing and optimising SQL, and recognising the difference between an efficient and an inefficient query
- Bringing down existing tech debt where it slows the team down
- Taking full ownership of features from idea to production
Experience We Are Looking For:
- Minimum 4 years working on SaaS applications
- Experience building production ready Elixir
- Strong SQL. You can write it from scratch and spot an inefficient query
- A track record of owning features, building for both runtime performance and long-term maintenance
- Strong communication, autonomy and time management
Nice To Have:
- Experience in a startup or high growth environment
- Exposure to AWS and cloud infrastructure
- Experience working with large transactional datasets
