ABOUT THE ROLE
As a Software Engineer in the Nucleus team, you will join a highly skilled engineering group responsible for building and evolving the core technology platform that powers Leonteq's investment platform.
Nucleus provides the foundation on which many other development teams build their applications. Our services handle some of the most critical capabilities of the platform, including market data distribution, pricing infrastructure, messaging, and shared platform services.

You'll work in an agile environment (Kanban), collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, and contribute to a modern microservices platform running both on-premises and in Google Cloud.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Design, develop, and maintain highly available distributed services.
- Work closely with business stakeholders and other engineering teams to understand requirements, design solutions, and estimate implementation effort.
- Contribute to software architecture and technical design decisions with a focus on scalability, resilience, and maintainability.
- Build automated tests and contribute to a robust CI/CD pipeline that enables frequent and reliable deployments.
- Collaborate with DevOps, Infrastructure, Security, and Release Engineering teams to continuously improve the platform.
- Modernize and evolve existing services while ensuring high reliability for business-critical applications.
- Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and knowledge sharing across the engineering organization.
- Help drive platform improvements that enable other development teams to build and deliver software efficiently.

- Languages: Scala 3
- Messaging: Apache Kafka, RabbitMQ
- Serialization: Protocol Buffers
- Container Platform: Kubernetes (on-premises & Google Cloud Platform), VMware Tanzu
- GitOps: Argo CD
- Databases: PostgreSQL, Couchbase, Oracle
- Search & Observability: Elasticsearch
- CI/CD: Jenkins
- Infrastructure as Code: Terraform, Ansible
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
- Master's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
- Professional proficiency in English.
- Experience building scalable, distributed applications using Scala, Java, or other similar language.
- Strong understanding of software engineering principles and a pragmatic mindset.
- Experience designing and implementing APIs for integration with internal and external systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to learn quickly in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work effectively in an international, geographically distributed team.
- A proactive mindset with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
- Interest in learning about financial products and investment technologies.
NICE TO HAVE
- Professional experience in the financial services or fintech industry.
- Experience with Scala and Pekko.
- Familiarity with messaging platforms such as Kafka or RabbitMQ.
- Experience operating applications on Kubernetes, VMware Tanzu, or Google Cloud Platform.
