ARE YOU READY TO EMBARK ON A JOURNEY WITH JEDSY?

At Jedsy, we are driven by innovation and progress. As a leader in advanced drone logistics, we are transforming the landscape of aerial services. Our mission is to stay at the cutting edge of technology, continually enhancing our processes and services. We are looking for a Backend Engineer (M/W/D) to join our dynamic team, thrive in an innovative environment, and contribute significantly to our success.

The Mission

As a Backend Engineer (M/W/D) at Jedsy, you will build and maintain the microservices backbone that powers our autonomous drone delivery platform. You will develop RESTful APIs, design database architectures, and deploy cloud-native services that orchestrate flight operations, battery management, route scheduling, and real-time monitoring. Working across our active backend services, you'll collaborate with drone operations teams, engineers, and developers to deliver mission-critical features that keep our fleet flying safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

Core Development

  • Develop and maintain RESTful APIs using FastAPI (Python) and Spring Boot (Java)
  • Design database schemas, queries, and migrations with PostgreSQL and Alembic
  • Build Pydantic models for data validation and implement business logic for drone operations, flight management, and battery monitoring
  • Write clean, well-documented code following PEP8 and team style guidelines

Service Integration & Infrastructure

  • Integrate Keycloak authentication and role-based access control (RBAC)
  • Build asynchronous workflows using Celery and Redis
  • Develop integrations with AWS and Microsoft SharePoint/Teams
  • Deploy services to Kubernetes (EKS) using Pulumi infrastructure-as-code

DevOps & Quality Assurance

  • Write and maintain Dockerfiles and GitHub Actions CI/CD pipelines
  • Monitor service health, troubleshoot production issues, and manage database backups
  • Write unit and integration tests, participate in code reviews, and follow Git workflow best practices
  • Create technical documentation and collaborate across frontend, embedded systems, and operations teams

AI-Augmented Development

  • Leverage AI coding assistants to accelerate development and problem-solving
  • Use AI tools for code review, debugging, documentation generation, and learning new technologies
  • Participate in developing and integrating custom AI agents and workflows to automate engineering tasks
  • Build MCP servers to expose Jedsy services and data to AI assistant ecosystems

Requirements

Technical Foundation

  • Backend development experience (strong fundamentals and projects encouraged)
  • Proficiency in Python 3, web frameworks (FastAPI, Flask, Django), and SQL database
  • Understanding of RESTful APIs, Git, and Linux environments

AI Fluency

  • Daily active use of AI coding assistants
  • Strong prompt engineering skills and ability to iterate effectively with AI tools
  • Critical thinking to validate and refine AI-generated code

Soft Skills

  • Problem-solving mindset, proactive communication, and ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt quickly in a remote and distributed team
  • Strong English proficiency for technical communication

Nice To Have

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, cloud platforms (AWS), or OAuth2/Keycloak
  • Experience with Alembic, Pulumi, Spring Boot/Java, or MongoDB
  • Strong understanding of microservices and event-driven architecture
  • Experience developing custom AI agents, Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers, or AI tool integrations
  • Knowledge of agent orchestration, RAG architectures, or prompt engineering patterns
  • Experience with AI knowledge management systems or documentation automation
  • Interest in drone technology, robotics, or autonomous systems
  • Familiarity with PX4, MAVLink, QGroundControl, or drone ecosystems
  • Exposure to VPN technologies (Nebula, WireGuard, Zerotier) or PKI systems
