Information Technology Specialist

About the Role

We are an international fashion distribution business running Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central as our core ERP platform, integrated with warehouse, eCommerce and marketplace systems.

We are looking for a Business Central specialist who lives and breathes the platform. This is a purely BC-focused role: you will support, extend and improve a live, integrated BC environment, working internally as well as alongside our external development partner and internal stakeholders across the business. You will not be spread across ten different systems. Business Central is the job.

What You Will Do

• Own day-to-day technical support of Business Central across our entities: troubleshoot posting issues, integration errors, permission problems and data questions, and see them through to resolution.
• Develop and maintain AL extensions following Microsoft's development guidelines and AppSource-grade best practices: event subscribers over base app changes, proper object structure, clean upgrade paths.
• Work with our external development partner on larger builds: review their pull requests, test deliverables against specs, and hold the line on code quality and scope.
• Support and monitor our integration landscape: WMS interfaces, the Shopify, and others. Investigate failed messages, trace root causes, and propose fixes rather than workarounds.
• Use AI tooling as a core part of how you work: AI-assisted coding for AL development, BC Copilot features, and AI agents where they genuinely reduce effort. We expect you to be curious and have a solid understanding about these tools, not resistant to them.
• Translate business requests into clear technical requirements. Challenge when a request does not make sense by proposing the standard BC way before proposing customization.
• Manage environment hygiene: sandbox refreshes, extension deployments, telemetry review, Feature Management, and preparation for BC major version upgrades.
• Work directly with users at every level, from warehouse operators to finance leads to C-level, and communicate in the language each audience needs.

What You Must Bring

• Business Central depth. 5+ years of hands-on Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central experience (or NAV with recent BC cloud experience) in a technical or techno-functional capacity.
• AL development. Solid AL development skills in VS Code: table and page extensions, codeunits, event subscribers, APIs, report layouts. You know the base application well enough to find the right event before writing a line of code.
• Best practices discipline. You follow Microsoft's published guidelines and community best practices by default. You read Microsoft Learn and the main BC MVP blogs, and you can justify your design choices against them.
• Functional grounding. Understanding of BC's posting engine, dimensions, posting groups, item ledger and warehouse structures. You do not need to be an accountant, but you must understand what a posting group does before you touch one.
• AI fluency. Practical experience using AI coding assistants (GitHub Copilot, Claude) to accelerate development and research, with the judgment to verify what they produce.
• Critical thinking. You question requirements, spot the edge cases nobody mentioned, and think about what breaks downstream before you deploy. You prefer solving the actual problem over closing the ticket.
• Stakeholder skills. Comfortable working with end users, finance teams, external partners and senior management. Patient with users, precise with developers, concise with executives.
• Positive attitude, eagerness to continue learn and grow.
• Prior experience within retail or distribution industries.
• Fluent English, written and spoken.

Nice to Have

• Exposure to Power Platform (Power Automate, Power Pages, Dataverse) in a BC context.
• Experience in fashion.
• Familiarity with Azure DevOps & GIT for source control and work item tracking.
• Microsoft certification MB-800 (Business Central Functional Consultant) and/or AL developer credentials.
