Position Description
Our client is currently seeking a talented mid-level Software Engineer for an AI-first, specification-driven development role focused on building and operating reliable cloud-based SaaS systems. This position will design, build, and maintain scalable software systems, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and provide technical leadership on projects that directly impact our business. You will create clear technical specifications, use AI tools as the primary part of the development process, and apply strong engineering judgment to specifications, architecture, implementation, testing, security, and production reliability. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with AWS or similar cloud platforms, Terraform, Helm, SaaS systems with high uptime requirements and modern software development practices.
Key Responsibilities
Design, build, test, deploy, support and maintain production software systems for cloud-based SaaS platforms
- Work in an AI-first development workflow, using AI tools to develop, implement, test, debug, refactor, and document reliable, maintainable production systems and code.
- Develop services, APIs, automation, external integrations and internal tooling usingGo, Python, TypeScript or similar languages.
- Build and operate cloud infrastructure, preferably in AWS, with attention to scalability, security, reliability, observability, and cost.
- Contribute to the design and operation of SaaS architectures with high uptime and reliability requirements.
- Improve CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, infrastructure workflows, and developer tooling using Helm and Terraform.Maintain production health through monitoring, alerting, incident response, run books, and post-incident improvements.Contribute in a continuous improvement environment and help improve engineering standards across the team.
Required Qualifications
3+ years of professional software engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated ability.Professional experience with at least one of the following languages: Go, Java,Python, Rust, or TypeScript.Demonstrable experience working with technical specifications, design documents, acceptance criteria, or structured development plans.
- Demonstrable experience using AI tools in software development, such as Codex, Cursor, Claude or similar tools.
- Clear understanding of the strengths and limitations of AI-assisted development, including code review, correctness, adversarial reviews, security, maintainability, and testing concerns.
- Strong understanding of software engineering fundamentals, including testing, debugging, version control, code review, API design, and maintainable system design.
- Ability to diagnose production issues and reason across application, infrastructure, network, and data layers.
- Strong English written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work in a hybrid environment with some in-office time required.
- Ability to pass a background check in accordance with company HIPAA policies.
Preferred Qualifications
Professional software engineering experience building, deploying, operating and supporting SaaS systems.Professional experience with AWS services such as ECS, EKS, Lambda, API Gateway, S3, RDS, DynamoDB, CloudWatch, IAM, EventBridge, SQS, SNS, or similar services.Experience using Terraform, Helm and Kubernetes workloads in production.Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or SQL Server.
Experience designing event-driven, distributed, or fault-tolerant systems.Experience with secure software development practices, including IAM, secrets management, encryption, least privilege, vulnerability management, and dependency scanning.Experience working in regulated environments such as healthcare, HIPAA, SOC 2, fintech, insurance, or similar domains. Familiarity with Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS) - style business management.
AI-First Development Expectations
This role requires practical, responsible use of AI tools as part of the engineering workflow. Candidates should be prepared to discuss how they use AI tools to improve development speed and quality while remaining accountable for the final result.

Using AI tools to generate implementation drafts from specifications.Creating and improving unit tests, integration tests, and documentation.Exploring unfamiliar APIs, libraries, infrastructure patterns, or system designs.Debugging production or development issues.Refactoring existing code safely.Generating scripts, Terraform modules, Helm templates, deployment helpers, or developer tooling.Reviewing AI-generated output for correctness, security, maintainability, and fit with existing architecture. Understanding when AI output is insufficient and when deeper engineering analysis is required.
