About our client

Our client is a rapidly expanding consulting firm delivering into large-scale financial services environments across Australia. They specialise in complex systems integration, particularly within Payments, and continue to win major programmes across Cards and NPP platforms.

About the role

You will join a delivery-focused engineering team working across NPP integration, APIs and broader payment systems. This is a hands-on role suited to engineers who enjoy building, integrating and solving real production challenges.

There is flexibility in the role depending on your strengths – either focusing on core payments development or contributing to automation and platform engineering initiatives.

Key responsibilities include:

• Developing and maintaining payment integrations across NPP and API layers
• Working with IBM ACE, Java and messaging systems (MQ/API stacks)
• Supporting production environments and troubleshooting issues
• Contributing to CI/CD pipelines and automation workflows
• Collaborating closely with delivery leads, QA and support teams

The successful candidate

We are open to two profile types depending on experience and strengths.

Primary profile:

• Strong Java development experience
• Hands-on SQL Server (or equivalent database experience)
• Experience working within Payments environments
• Understanding of message flows and system integrations

Nice to have:

• NCR Authentic or other payment switch experience
• Exposure to AS2805 / ISO messaging

Alternative profile (automation-focused):

• Solid Java foundation
• Strong experience with GitHub, GitHub Actions and AWS
• Experience building CI/CD pipelines and automation frameworks
