Your Role

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will play a critical role in designing, building, and scaling our catering software solutions for KLM. You will take ownership of complex systems that ensure in-flight meals are delivered on time, accurately, and efficiently across a global network.

You will not only develop high-quality software but also drive architectural decisions, mentor team members, and ensure system reliability under high load and operational pressure.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable, high-performance systems using Java and Spring (Boot/Cloud)
• Own end-to-end solution design, from requirements to production deployment
• Architect systems capable of handling high-load, mission-critical operations
• Lead and contribute to system design and technical decision-making
• Translate business and operational needs into robust technical solutions
• Optimize and maintain backend services, APIs, and integrations with external systems
• Ensure system observability using tools such as Dynatrace, Grafana, or similar monitoring platforms
• Drive performance tuning, incident analysis, and continuous improvement
• Collaborate closely with product owners, operations teams, and other stakeholders
• Mentor junior developers and contribute to engineering best practices
• Participate in on-call rotation to support 24/7 critical operations

What You Bring

• 8+ years of experience in software engineering, with strong expertise in Java17+ and Spring ecosystem
• Proven experience designing and building distributed and high-load systems
• Strong knowledge of system design, architecture patterns, and microservices
• Familiar with monitoring and observability tools (e.g., Dynatrace, Grafana)
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps practices
• Solid understanding of REST APIs, event-driven architecture, and SOA
• Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP)
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to work with operational and logistics data
• Ability to balance technical excellence with business needs
