Back-End Engineer (Java)

Quanloop is building and running a security‑sensitive investment platform. We are hiring multiple Back-End Engineers (Java) in Budapest to strengthen core services, APIs and backend delivery.

Your home office is Budapest and the role is office‑first.

This is a backend-focused role. You will not be expected to build React UI, but you will partner closely with Front-End engineers and UI Developers (HTML/CSS) and own clean service contracts that make integrations predictable.

• Working model: Office‑first (on‑site).
• Hiring basis: Local hiring for the Budapest office location.
• Onboarding: Budapest is the home office.
• Language: English‑first working language.
• Reporting line: You report to a Tech Lead; Tech Leads report into Head of Engineering and/or the CTO.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

• Build and maintain Java services in a microservices environment.
• Design APIs and service contracts that make integrations stable and predictable.
• Improve performance, reliability and maintainability of backend systems.
• Partner with Front-End engineers and UI Developers on integration and delivery sequencing.
• Work with Product Owner and QA on scope, acceptance criteria and release readiness.
• Partner with Infrastructure on operational constraints and production readiness.
• Collaborate with Client Operations and Risk and Compliance on workflows and constraints where relevant.
• Contribute to shared standards, code review discipline and practical documentation.

What We’re Looking For

• Strong commercial experience building and maintaining production Java systems.
• Experience designing and evolving APIs and service interfaces.
• Comfortable with code review and shared engineering standards.
• Fintech or regulated/high‑scrutiny environment experience is preferred.
• Clear written and spoken communication in English.
• Comfortable working on site with a team.
