Network Automation Engineer
Indexed description
About The Job
As our new Network Automation Engineer, you will serve as the technical and strategic bridge between IP Networks and IT, with a dual focus:
- Maintaining and driving the evolution of our current stack (mediation layer) used for automated service provisioning across our multi-vendor network.
- Driving the transition towards adopting a commercial provisioning and orchestration platform for our IP network.
Your Responsibilities Will Include, Among Other Things
- Play a pivotal role in the end-to-end process of identifying, evaluating, and preparing for the implementation of a commercial automation/orchestration product (e.g., Cisco NSO or alternatives), including driving assessments, feature gap analyses, roadmaps, and high-level architecture, and ensuring alignment with stakeholders across Network, IT, Architecture, and Operations.
- Own and maintain the current mediation layer codebase, ensuring stability, incremental improvements, and support for new backbone services on Cisco, Juniper, and Nokia platforms.
- Bridge IT (OSS Core) and IP Network domains by translating business system logic into network-ready automation workflows – and vice versa.
- Ensure long-term manageability by delivering documentation, coding standards, modular design principles, and best-practice guidelines for automation.
- Support the IP Networks engineering team by integrating new technologies, features, and services into the provisioning stack.
About You
The ideal candidate will meet most or all of the following:
- Deep understanding of IP networking in a service-provider environment, including MPLS, BGP, L2/L3 VPN, EVPN, QoS, multicast, and multi-vendor operational models.
- Software engineering experience (e.g. PHP, Java, Python, REST APIs and relevant data formats/models such as JSON, XML and YANG). Experience with structured, maintainable software design is essential.
- Practical experience with automation/orchestration platforms and technologies, such as Cisco NSO, Ansible, Netconf/YANG, or similar frameworks.
- Experience working across organizational boundaries, bridging Network Engineering, IT and Operations.
- Ability to think strategically and execute pragmatically, balancing long-term platform direction with short-term operational realities.
- Solid analytical and communication skills, enabling the candidate to act as translator between business logic, application developers, and network engineers.
- Experience with OSS/BSS integration, mediation layer concepts, service provisioning models, and API/adapter design.
- Solid problem-solving ability and ability to work in lab-to-production workflows.
- Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance from Danish authorities. Eligibility for security clearance requires EU citizenship or residence in the EU for at least seven years.
