Role Description The Staff Engineer role on the ad serving team is a full-time, on-site position based in Sarasota, FL. This role focuses on designing, building, and optimizing large-scale, low-latency ad serving systems that operate across Samsung’s device ecosystem. The Staff Engineer will lead technical architecture decisions, drive complex projects end-to-end, and mentor other engineers to ensure high-quality, reliable, and performant services. Day-to-day responsibilities include collaborating with product, data, and operations teams to define requirements, implementing and reviewing production code, improving system observability and resilience, and ensuring compliance with privacy and security standards. The role also involves evaluating new technologies, championing best practices, and contributing to the long-term technical roadmap of the ad serving platform.

Qualifications

  • Strong proficiency in Erlang and/or Golang programming language and solid software engineering fundamentals.
  • Experience designing and building distributed, high-throughput, low-latency systems, preferably in advertising technology or large-scale data platforms.
  • Knowledge of cloud infrastructure, microservices, and containerization (e.g., AWS/GCP/Azure, Kubernetes, Docker) and associated monitoring/observability tools.
  • Hands-on experience with data processing and storage technologies (e.g., streaming frameworks, message queues, SQL/NoSQL databases, caching systems).
  • Background in system design, performance tuning, and reliability engineering, with an emphasis on scalability and fault tolerance.
  • Ability to lead technical initiatives, mentor engineers, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional partners in product and operations.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills, with a focus on clear documentation and knowledge sharing.
  • Bachelor’s or higher degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience in ad serving, programmatic advertising, or digital media measurement is a plus.
