Position Overview
The Android Developer Senior is a problem-solver who leverages technology to solve complex problems at scale. They work with others across the business to understand customer needs and develop high-value solutions. They are accountable for the design and implementation of solutions that meet software functional and non-functional requirements and adhere to established development standards. This role challenges its owner to work quickly and effectively as a team leader, sharing technical knowledge and leading the team to build and deploy high-quality software that satisfies our customers.

More Specifically, You Will
- Serve as a mentor to other software engineers.
- Build a collaborative partnership within your Scrum Team while being a technical advisor to the Product Owner.
- Lead the development, testing, and deployment of complex software applications and solutions.
- Champion a culture of code quality and continual learning and growth throughout the department.
- Conduct peer code reviews to ensure quality.
- Use your analytical and problem-solving skills for programming and user interface design.
- Integrate technology, process, test, and business practices.
- Follow and improve the team's Continuous Development and Continuous Integration practices.
- Work cross-functionally with other engineering teams, Product, and Architecture to solve complex problems and align on technical decisions.
- Capable of troubleshooting issues and bugs within their area of expertise.
- Authors or contributors to technical design documentation, release notes, and bug fix documentation.
- Develop and implement testing protocols to ensure the product is fully tested.
- Take part in an active culture of learning by exploring new technologies, participating in knowledge shares, attending conferences, and collaborating with local developer bootcamps.
- 8+ years of proven experience in mobile application development with primary focus on Android platform.
- 2+ years providing technical leadership: code reviews, mentoring junior/mid developers, contributing to architecture decisions, and defining team technical standards.
- Demonstrated ability to design, build, and maintain production mobile applications with high performance and reliability standards.
- Kotlin for Android development: Android SDK, Jetpack libraries, Material Design, lifecycle management, and Android Compose.
- Swift with iOS development — is a plus: UIKit/SwiftUI, Xcode, iOS SDK, Core Data.
- React Native — is a plus for cross-platform development capabilities.
- REST API design and implementation: versioning, authentication (OAuth2/JWT), documentation (OpenAPI/Swagger).
- TypeScript/JavaScript with a modern frontend framework (React, Vue, or Angular) — is a plus for backend-connected features.
- Version control using Git/GitHub.
- Mobile app deployment and distribution: App Store Connect, Google Play Console, TestFlight, and internal testing tools.
- Mobile performance optimization: understanding memory management, app lifecycle, battery optimization, and network efficiency.
- Knowledge of platform-specific guidelines: Apple Human Interface Guidelines (HIG) and Google Material Design standards.
- Relational databases and NoSQL — is a plus.
- Mobile testing expertise (unit, integration, UI testing), design principles (SOLID, Clean Architecture), and security best practices — nice to have.
- Ability to deliver results in fast-paced, dynamic environments.
- Effective self-management of time and projects in a fully remote setting.
- Experience working within Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban).
- Ability to communicate technical decisions to non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience collaborating with distributed, cross-functional teams.
- Continuous improvement mindset: proactively proposes enhancements to processes, tools, and codebase

- Position Requires
- minimal (less than 25%) travel required both domestic and international to Sovos locations and events
