Lead Mobile Engineer (Remote)

At this level, you're the technical leader of your squad—driving mobile architecture decisions, mentoring engineers, and delivering complex features end-to-end across our Flutter codebase.
What You'll Do
- Own mobile systems end-to-end — Design, build, and operate mobile applications from idea to production
- Lead technically — Run design reviews, set mobile architecture direction, and make technical decisions for your squad
- Mentor engineers — Help E1/E2 engineers grow through pairing, code review, and coaching
- Drive quality — Champion testing strategy, performance optimization, and observability for mobile
- Leverage AI strategically — Use AI for architecture exploration, refactoring, and test generation; build or champion AI-powered tools for the squad
- Optimize for mobile — Ensure apps perform well on devices with limited resources and varying network conditions
- Handle incidents — Lead incident response and postmortems for mobile issues
- Ship predictably — Break down ambiguous problems into clear milestones and deliver on commitments
- 5+ years building mobile applications
- Strong experience with Flutter/Dart (native iOS or Android experience also valuable)
- Deep understanding of mobile architecture patterns (clean architecture, state management)
- Experience optimizing for performance, battery life, and limited connectivity
- Solid testing practices for mobile (unit, widget, integration tests)
- Comfortable with CI/CD pipelines and mobile observability tools
- Uses AI tools (Copilot, Claude, ChatGPT) daily for coding, debugging, and analysis
- Uses AI strategically for architecture exploration, large refactors, and prototyping
- Builds or champions squad-level AI-powered tools (e.g., test generation, code review automation)
- Keeps the team ahead of new AI capabilities relevant to mobile development
- Experience mentoring engineers and leading technical discussions
- Clear communicator who can explain trade-offs to engineers, PMs, and stakeholders
- Strong technical documentation and knowledge-sharing practices
- Fluent in Spanish; working knowledge of English for cross-team collaboration
- Product-minded—you care about user experience and business outcomes
- Strong ownership mentality; you see problems through to resolution
- Curious about fintech and how mobile apps can improve financial access
- Experience in fintech, payments, or lending
- Native iOS (Swift) or Android (Kotlin) experience
- Backend experience (Java, Python, Go) for full-stack understanding
- On-call and incident response experience
- Contributions to mobile tooling, design systems, or shared components
