Senior Mobile Engineer (Remote, based only in EU)

WorkNomads is seeking a Software R&D Engineer to join our diverse team, working remotely from the EU or from the WorkNomads office in Sofia, Bulgaria.

We are looking for an engineer with strong experience in mobile application development, with focus on Android and iOS development. The role is centered around building, maintaining, and scaling a modern mobile platform collaborating closely with backend, product, and design teams.

The ideal candidate combines strong mobile engineering expertise with additional:

• product-oriented mindset and takes ownership of the full development lifecycle, from architecture and implementation to deployment;
• security, and long-term maintainability
• Strong understanding and experience with monitoring and analysis tools within Android and iOS related to user testing, analytics and system reviews

The R&D Development Engineer is responsible not only for delivering technically sound mobile solutions but also for ensuring that all systems meet high standards of security, reliability, and compliance. This includes designing:

• secure integrations between mobile and backend systems
• protecting sensitive user data
• proactively managing vulnerabilities
• embedding security best practices throughout the development lifecycle
• Maintaining submission reviews and updates

In this role, the engineer takes technical ownership of the mobile platform and helps maintain consistency and quality within the team. Responsibilities include conducting code reviews, supporting other engineers, documenting technical decisions, and contributing to scalable and maintainable application architecture.

Requirements

The tools in your backpack:

• 4+ years of experience with Android/IOS native application development
• Experience with mobile application architecture, performance optimization, and publishing workflows
• Flutter/Dart knowledge
• Python - Backend services, data processing, async programming, FastAPI
• RESTful API design and implementation
• Microservices architecture
• Databases and data layers - PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQLite
• Containers and deployment strategies and applications (Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines)

Other nice-to-have tools:

• AI integration and deployment
• Django
• WebRTC
• MS Azure, Firebase, or other cloud systems
• NoSQL databases
