As Director, Engineering, you will lead software engineering teams responsible for delivering technologies that power Qualcomm's wearable product portfolio. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams including hardware, systems, architecture, quality, product management, and customer engineering organizations to develop innovative solutions and deliver high-quality products. This role spans wearable platform software, multimedia, connectivity, system integration, and product engineering across current and future product generations while providing technical and organizational leadership across key software domains.
Key Responsibilities
- Own execution across wearable software programs and technology areas, ensuring alignment across platform software, multimedia, connectivity, system integration, and product engineering organizations.
- Drive development, product engineering, commercialization, and lifecycle support of Qualcomm wearable platforms across multiple product generations.
- Collaborate closely with architecture, hardware, systems, validation, quality, product management, and customer engineering teams to drive alignment, resolve technical and execution challenges, and ensure successful product delivery.
- Drive product readiness, feature delivery, quality improvements, customer engagements and successful product launches.
- Provide technical leadership for system architecture, software optimization, feature partitioning, power-performance tradeoffs, and platform maturity across wearable products.
- Lead through influence, driving results across organizational boundaries through technical credibility, collaboration, and effective communication.
- Build and develop high-performing engineering organizations through talent development, succession planning, organizational design, and leadership coaching.
- Champion engineering excellence through process improvements, automation, operational rigor, and software engineering best practices.
- 20+ years of engineering experience with a strong track record of delivering complex products, leading engineering organizations, and driving technical innovation.
- Proven track record of leading large, complex engineering programs and influencing global cross-functional teams to deliver business and product outcomes.
- Demonstrated success driving product strategy, execution, and delivery across the full lifecycle from concept and architecture through commercialization and sustaining support.
- Deep expertise in embedded systems spanning SoC and system architectures, Linux, Android, and RTOS platforms, with experience across connectivity and multimedia domains.
- Solid understanding of power and performance optimization, product quality, and software engineering best practices.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, organizational leadership, and influencing skills, with the ability to engage technical, customer, and executive audiences.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 8+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.
Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 7+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.
OR
PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 6+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.
- 4+ years of work experience with Programming Language such as C, C++, Java, Python, etc.
