The Opportunity

Platform Mission creates the technology that enables the company to scale globally, experiment rapidly, and build for a billion users. The Connectivity squad sits within Core Infrastructure studio, owning the full client networking stack - from HTTP requests to real-time messaging and connection state management. This is an opportunity to work on foundational systems, joining early in the squad’s formation with direct influence over technical direction, collaborating closely with server-side teams to evolve client–server contracts and protocols.

What You’ll Work On

You’ll evolve and harden the core systems that power client networking today - including the cross-platform HTTP stack, real-time messaging, and network state detection - while ensuring safe retirement of legacy components. This role combines building forward with managing complexity at scale, defining migration paths, managing risk during sunsets, and ensuring uninterrupted connectivity for hundreds of millions of active clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Refactor and modularize existing core components (C++/Android/iOS), defining clear interfaces, ownership boundaries, and long-term architectural direction.
  • Improve platform integration layers to reduce coupling and simplify client adoption.
  • Design and implement metrics, telemetry, and observability for end-to-end debugging across the full client-to-backend path.
  • Lead and execute migrations away from legacy networking components, balancing forward progress with stability.
  • Work effectively in a cross-functional team with PMs, EMs, designers, and partner teams.
  • Provide technical leadership within the squad: drive architectural proposals, mentor teammates, and establish engineering norms.
  • Contribute to and influence long-term architectural decisions and best practices for mobile infrastructure.

What We Are Looking For

  • 5+ years of experience in mobile or infrastructure engineering, with strong C++ expertise.
  • Solid mobile engineering background (Android/iOS) and ability to navigate large, multi-platform codebases.
  • Proven track record of building and shipping production-grade SDKs or mobile infrastructure components.
  • Deep understanding of networking fundamentals: HTTP/2+, WebSockets, caching, offline resilience.
  • Experience with real-time messaging systems (PubSub, WebSockets, push infrastructure).
  • Strong debugging, profiling, and performance optimization skills.
  • Experience with CI/CD systems, build automation, and modularization at scale.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-moving, forming team with a mix of engineers.
  • Strong communication skills; comfortable collaborating across domains.
