AI-driven Android Developer to SVT Play – Help Shape the Future of Public Service Streaming
Indexed description
SVT is in the middle of an exciting transformation, where SVT Play is at the heart of the company's future. We want to make SVT Play smarter, more accessible, and more personal. We're looking for an AI-driven developer whose base is Android to help us get there!
What We Offer
SVT Play is Sweden’s leading video service. As part of public service, we have a unique mission: to serve everyone in Sweden with high-quality, accessible, and engaging content. Our users are at the heart of everything we do, and we take pride in building apps that are stable, secure, and delightful to use.
We Believe In
- Collaboration and inclusive teams where everyone’s voice and ideas matter
- Autonomy, trust and high level of ownership, with freedom to choose tools and ways of working
- Continuous learning and innovation, through everyday work, hack days, tech sprints, and knowledge sharing
- Sustainable solutions, with a long-term mindset and a healthy work-life balance

Who We Think You Are
We think you are someone who can challenge us with new perspectives and are at the forefront of using AI. You’re someone who enjoys working collaboratively and values open communication. You’re curious, pragmatic, and comfortable navigating challenges in a team that embraces experimentation and agile ways of working. Sharing knowledge comes naturally to you, and you’re always open to learning something new.
You likely have several years of experience in Android development and a solid foundation in the platform. You feel comfortable working with Kotlin and Jetpack Compose, have built native Android apps, and are familiar with the latest Android technologies and modern development practices.
You have experience using or building AI agent-driven workflows, leveraging AI coding agents to accelerate your own development and engineering autonomous features into user-facing products. You work with good judgement, using agents to move faster, and are able to tell solid output from plausible-looking slop, because you review, test and stand behind what you ship.
If you also have experience in any of the following, that's a great bonus, but not a requirement:
- Android TV
- Google's ecosystem (like Cast or Nest)
- Accessibility and inclusive design
- Video streaming
- UX background
If, on top of all that, you see the importance of public service media, are passionate about learning, and value people's differences, SVT might just be the place for you!
About The Role
As an AI-driven developer whose base is Android, you’ll work with an AI-first approach with native Android development to improve and evolve our app across phones, tablets, TVs and other devices. You’ll collaborate closely with developers, designers, analysts, and testers across multiple teams - all working together to deliver a world-class user experience.
In this role you'll be part of both a team (a cross-functional team that builds features for our users) and the Android Play Guild. The Android Play Guild's mission is to keep our Android codebase open and stable, and to shape the principles and standards so that other teams can build and contribute to the platform in a safe way. You'll help evolve principles, tooling, AI workflows and developer experience that make contribution easier.
We Don't See AI As Only a Tool Or a Coding Assistant. We See It As a Fundamental Shift In How Software Is Designed, Built, Reviewed, Tested And Maintained. We Also Use Modern Development Practices, Including
- Pair and mob programming
- Agile workflows with team-owned processes
- A strong focus on accessibility, performance, and user experience
The position: Full-time (100%)
Location: Stockholm
Start date: As soon as possible
Contract: Permanent (tillsvidareanställning)
