The role at a glance

Jefit · Santa Clara, CA · Full-time, in-office (5 days/week) · $115K–$130K base + equity + benefits · No visa sponsorship

Why this role exists

Jefit is the strength-training app for serious lifters — 15+ years in market, profitable, and pivoting from "workout tracker" to the most intelligent training platform. The product anchor is our mesocycle-driven Progressive Overload engine — adaptive multi-week programs that learn from each user's logged performance and write the next block.

Android is roughly half our business, and bringing the Adaptive Plan to full polish on Android is the highest-leverage initiative on our roadmap. We're hiring an experienced Android engineer to drive that work end-to-end — owning the Android side of the Progressive Overload engine and shipping it at the level our most serious users expect.

You'll work directly with our CTO and the broader engineering team, and your work will move real product metrics.

What you'll build

-Adaptive Plan on Android — the next 6 months of work centers on making our mesocycle engine feel native on Android: clean Compose UIs, fast offline-first sync, instant load progression updates after every set.

-NSPI dashboard accuracy — fix custom-exercise + bodyweight/duration-based exercise contributions to our progression dashboard. Unblocks home-training users from adopting the Adaptive Plan.

-Android funnel work — onboarding conversion, activation, and subscription retention. Real metrics, real revenue impact.

-Infrastructure modernization — migrating off the last legacy patterns; deeper Compose adoption; Coroutines/Flow everywhere.

-AI-assisted dev workflow — every engineer here ships faster using Claude Code / Cursor / Copilot. We expect you to too, and we expect you to have opinions on which tool is best for which job.

What we're looking for

-Shipped real Android software. At least one app on Google Play, or a substantial Android codebase at a company. We care more about products you've shipped than years on a resume — a junior who's shipped 2 real apps beats a senior who's stagnated.

-Solid Kotlin + modern stack. Jetpack Compose, Coroutines/Flow, Room (or SQLDelight) in production. If your last 3 years were XML + RxJava + AsyncTask and you haven't picked up Compose yet, this isn't the right fit.

-Genuine AI-coding-assistant fluency. Not "I use ChatGPT to debug sometimes" — we mean Claude Code / Cursor / Copilot integrated into your daily dev loop, with opinions on workflow. We bias hard toward fast learners over stack-stubborn experts; this is the single most important non-Android skill we screen for.

-Authorization to work in the US without visa sponsorship. Citizen / GC / EAD / TN. We can't sponsor H1-B for this role.

-Willingness to work full-time in our Santa Clara office. This is an in-office role, 5 days/week. Not remote, not hybrid.
