We are looking for: Embedded Software Engineer - Smart module
Main responsibilities:
- Develop, maintain, customize, and debug Android/Linux BSP components for SMART module platforms.
- Work on Linux kernel-level issues, including Device Tree configuration, GPIO setup, pin control, peripheral enablement, and driver customization.
- Support bring-up and integration of hardware components such as LCD, Touch Panel, Camera, Sensors, Charger, Audio, UART, I2C, SPI, and GPIO-based interfaces.
- Analyze customer requirements and provide technical solutions for platform customization and hardware integration.
- Debug issues using tools such as ADB, fastboot, QFIL, serial console, kernel logs, Android logs, and diagnostic interfaces.
- Investigate and resolve complex customer-reported issues related to kernel drivers, boot behavior, peripheral functionality, and system stability.
- Review schematics and hardware design documents to support board-level debugging and software configuration.
- Participate in software development, maintenance, code review, and technical documentation.
- Collaborate with FAE, hardware, software testing, and customer support teams.
- Prepare technical summaries, issue analysis reports, troubleshooting guides, and internal training materials.
- Contribute to team capability development and knowledge sharing.
- Perform other engineering tasks based on company and project needs.
- Other designated work arranged according to the company’s business needs.
Requirements and preferable skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Embedded Systems, or a related technical field.
- Experience in Android/Linux BSP development, preferably 3+ years; 5+ years is a strong advantage.
- Good understanding of Linux kernel architecture, Device Tree, boot process, kernel modules, and driver model.
- Experience with Linux device driver development, debugging, or customization.
- Strong C programming skills.
- Familiarity with embedded communication interfaces such as UART, I2C, SPI, USB, and GPIO.
- Experience with debugging tools and workflows such as ADB, fastboot, QFIL, serial console and kernel logs.
- Ability to read schematics and understand hardware/software interaction.
- Good problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex embedded system issues.
- Fluent English, both written and spoken.
