Job Summary
The IBP Analytics & Business Intelligence Lead owns the analytical and insight-generating foundation of Ashley's Integrated Business Planning process.
This role is accountable for scenario modeling, KPI calculation and tracking, financial impact analysis, and data governance that enable high-quality enterprise planning decisions across Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP: 4-12 week planning timeframe) and Sales & Operations Execution (S&OE: 0-4 week planning framework) operational cadences.
This individual translates complex operational and financial data into clear business KPIs and analyzes data to derive insights that support decision-making. Scope of operations includes: Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Warehousing & Distribution, Wholesale, Retail, and E-commerce.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Data Analysis, Reconciliation & Data Quality
- Write and maintain SQL queries to extract, join, aggregate, validate, and reconcile data across enterprise source systems
- Analyze large operational and financial datasets across ERP, WMS, TMS, order management, planning, inventory, manufacturing, and finance environments
- Identify and resolve data discrepancies by tracing source-system logic, data lineage, grain, filters, master data, timing differences, and calculation assumptions
- Build repeatable data validation checks, reconciliation routines, and exception reporting to improve trust in IBP outputs
- Document source-to-report mappings, KPI calculation logic, data definitions, dependencies, and known limitations
KPI Performance Management
- Own IBP KPI definitions, calculation rules, data lineage, business logic, and governance documentation across planning processes
- Maintain operational scorecards across Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Warehousing, Distribution, Inventory, and related planning domains
- Ensure consistent metric interpretation across functions by aligning stakeholders on definitions, data sources, refresh timing, and decision thresholds
- Build repeatable scenario models that quantify trade-offs across service, inventory, capacity, cost, revenue, margin, and working capital
BI Requirements, Semantic Logic & Reporting
- Define analytical requirements, report specifications, and metric logic for IBP dashboards and scorecards
- Develop, automate, deploy, and enhance Power BI dashboards and enterprise reporting assets
- Validate dashboard outputs against source data, SQL queries, Excel models, and business expectations before executive use
- Create rapid prototypes, ad hoc analyses, and proof-of-concept models in SQL, Excel, and Power BI to accelerate decision-making
Cross-Functional Advisory & Influence
- Serve as the analytical partner to senior leaders across Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Distribution, Finance, IT, Wholesale, Retail, and E-commerce
- Communicate complex analysis to business users by using data, structured thinking, and logic to drive alignment around planning decisions
- Partner with cross-functional teams to translate business questions into analytical frameworks and actionable insights
Technical Environment & Data Domains
Core Tools
- SQL (required): querying, joins, aggregations, CTEs, data validation
- Advanced Excel (required): scenario modeling, Power Query, pivot tables, financial analysis
- Power BI (required): dashboard development, DAX, semantic models, data visualization
Preferred Technical Depth
- DAX and Power BI semantic models
- Data modeling concepts and ETL/ELT awareness
- Python or R exposure for advanced analytics
- Experience with cloud data platforms: Snowflake, Azure, Databricks, or similar environments
Planning Data Domains
- Demand, forecast, orders, backlog, inventory, production, capacity, procurement, warehousing, transportation, shipments, service levels, revenue, margin, cost, and working capital
Source System Exposure
- ERP, WMS, TMS, order management, demand planning, supply planning, inventory systems, manufacturing systems, finance systems, and BI/reporting platforms
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree required in Supply Chain, Business, Finance, Engineering, Analytics, Information Systems, Data Science, or a related field
- Master's degree or MBA preferred
Experience & Skills
Required:
- 5-10 years of experience in supply chain analytics, operations analytics, IBP/S&OP analytics, manufacturing analytics, warehousing and distribution analytics, FP&A analytics, business intelligence, or related analytical roles
- Hands-on experience extracting, validating, reconciling, and analyzing data across multiple business systems
- SQL proficiency: Ability to write, troubleshoot, and optimize analytical queries using joins, aggregations, CTEs, subqueries, date logic, and reconciliation techniques
- Advanced Excel expertise: Strong modeling capability including scenario analysis, sensitivity analysis, financial bridges, lookups, pivot tables, Power Query, and executive-ready analytical outputs
- Power BI experience: Ability to define dashboard requirements, validate report logic, interpret data models, and partner effectively with BI developers
- Data governance skills: Ability to document KPI definitions, calculation rules, source-system mappings, metric lineage, refresh timing, assumptions, and quality controls
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to translate complex data into clear business insights
- Excellent communication and presentation skills for executive-level audiences
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across functions in a fast-paced environment
Preferred:
- DAX and Power BI semantic model development experience
- Experience with Python, R, or statistical analysis tools
- Familiarity with cloud data platforms (Snowflake, Azure, Databricks)
- APICS, IBF, or analytics certifications (CPIM, CSCP, CFPIM)
- Experience in manufacturing, wholesale, retail, or e-commerce analytics environments
- Background in IBP, S&OP, or S&OE process design and analytics
