Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Data Automation Engineer to support Coast Guard data modernization and automation initiatives. The ideal candidate will design, develop, and maintain automated data pipelines, workflows, and integration solutions that improve operational efficiency, data quality, and reporting capabilities. This role requires expertise in data engineering, process automation, ETL/ELT development, and cloud-based data solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain automated data pipelines and workflows to support business and operational reporting requirements.
Build and optimize ETL/ELT processes for ingesting, transforming, and loading data from multiple source systems.
Develop data integration solutions using APIs, databases, cloud services, and enterprise applications.
Automate manual data collection, validation, reconciliation, and reporting processes.
Monitor and troubleshoot data pipelines to ensure reliability, performance, and data integrity.
Implement data quality checks, exception handling, and monitoring frameworks.
Collaborate with business stakeholders, analysts, developers, and data engineers to gather requirements and deliver automated solutions.
Support cloud-based data platforms and data warehouse environments.
Develop scripts and automation tools to streamline operational processes.
Create and maintain technical documentation, process flows, and standard operating procedures.
Ensure compliance with organizational security, governance, and data management standards.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field.
3+ years of experience in data engineering, automation, or data integration roles.
Strong experience with Python, SQL, and automation scripting.
Experience developing ETL/ELT pipelines and workflow orchestration.
Experience with relational and non-relational databases.
Strong understanding of data modeling, data transformation, and data quality practices.
Experience working with APIs, file-based integrations, and enterprise data systems.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting Coast Guard or other government-related programs.
Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.
Experience with Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Snowflake, Microsoft Fabric, Apache Airflow, or similar tools.
Knowledge of DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
Experience with Power BI, Qlik, Tableau, or other reporting tools.
Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
