Data Governance Engineer

Looking for a Data Governance Engineer to support implementation of secure, governed data access across the lakehouse environment. This role will configure Unity Catalog RBAC using EntraID groups and SCIM sync, register governed data assets in Collibra, apply PII/PHI classification tags, and align access controls to the established ABAC masking pattern.
Responsibilities
- Configure Unity Catalog role-based access controls using EntraID groups and SCIM synchronization.
- Register data assets and maintain governance metadata in Collibra DQ/DI.
- Apply and validate PII/PHI classification tags to support compliant data access.
- Align data access controls with the established ABAC masking and security pattern.
- Support policy implementation, access validation, and governance controls across governed data assets.
- Use Python to automate governance workflows, metadata updates, and validation checks.
- Partner with data engineering, security, compliance, and governance teams to ensure consistent implementation.
Qualifications
- Experience implementing data governance, data access controls, or metadata management in enterprise data platforms.
- Strong understanding of RBAC, ABAC, group-based access control, and data masking patterns.
- Experience with identity-driven access management, group synchronization, and permission validation.
- Familiarity with data cataloging, classification tagging, metadata management, and governance workflows.
- Understanding of PII/PHI handling, data privacy, and compliance-driven access control requirements.
- Ability to validate governance controls and troubleshoot access, tagging, or masking issues.
- Strong cross-functional communication skills with data, security, compliance, and business stakeholders.
