Lead Data Engineer

A large, well-established financial services organization is looking for a Lead Data Engineer to join its centralized Data & Analytics team. This team supports the full spectrum of data needs across multiple business lines, from infrastructure and governance to data science and AI. The organization is in active growth mode on its cloud transformation, and this role sits at the center of that work.

Compensation

• Base salary of $150,000 + 10% bonus
• Excellent benefits package including medical, dental, vision, and retirement
• .Hybrid schedule, 3 days in-office per week in Cary North Carolina

What you'll do

• Architect and build end-to-end data solutions, from source ingestion through analytics consumption
• Own and develop reusable data pipelines using Azure Databricks, Azure Data Factory, and Delta Lake
• Lead and mentor a team of data engineers across a globally distributed delivery model
• Design and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines handling high volumes of data across batch and real-time use cases
• Analyze data in depth using SQL and exploratory tools across Databricks, Oracle, SQL Server, and BigData platforms

Required skills

• 8+ years of data engineering experience
• 4+ years in Azure/Databricks environments
• Strong proficiency in SQL, Spark, Scala, and/or Python with a focus on performance tuning
• Hands-on expertise with Azure Databricks products
• Experience designing data warehouses and cloud data stores for analytics at scale
• Data governance and data quality implementation experience
• Ability to produce high-level design documents, data-flow diagrams, and technical specs

Nice to have

• Databricks or Microsoft Azure or Databricks certifications
