Senior Data Engineer

• Salary: £60,000 to £70,000
• UK Remote - but must have the willingness to travel to Surrey once a month
• Requires full right to work in the UK

I’m working with a private equity-backed workforce safety technology business that is hiring its first dedicated Data Engineer.

This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to build a data function from the ground up, rather than stepping into a mature environment where everything is already defined.

The business has data sitting across multiple systems, including CRM, finance, customer support and a proprietary platform. The key challenge is bringing that data together, harmonising customer and sub-account records, improving consistency, and creating a stronger data foundation for reporting, insight and future product development.

The core skills they are looking for are:

• Strong SQL
• ETL/ELT pipeline experience
• Power BI
• Microsoft Fabric
• Snowflake or Databricks experience
• Experience working across multiple data sources and messy real-world datasets

There is also an interesting AI angle to the role. They are keen to speak with Data Engineers who have used AI to improve data engineering workflows, automate pipeline tasks, support deduplication, improve data matching, or expose data more effectively to AI tools and systems.

This would suit someone who enjoys ownership, ambiguity and problem-solving, and who is excited by the idea of becoming the first specialist data hire in a growing technology business.
