About The Role
We are seeking a Data Engineer to join our NPCAP team within Digital & Data Portfolio. This role will support the development, improvement and implementation of data engineering processes, tools and products within the Primary Health Insights platform, including data ingestion and transformation pipelines, scripts, data models and datasets.
In this role, you will work with technical and non-technical users across PHNs, vendors and other stakeholders to identify requirements, develop fit-for-purpose data engineering solutions, troubleshoot issues, and support the ongoing improvement of data products and processes.
🔹Location: WAPHA Head Office, Level 2, 1 Hood Street, Subiaco (Hybrid Role)
🔹Employment Type: Full-time Maximum term contract for 12 months
🔹 Salary: Band 5 ($114k -$128k) Plus 12% Superannuation)
Key Tasks And Responsibilities
- Design, build and maintain scalable Data integration process, Data Transformation and cleaning logics, workflows and data models that support reporting, analytics and decision-making.
- Extract, Transform and integrate data from multiple sources to ensure high-quality, reliable datasets are available to users across the PHI platform.
- Collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders to understand business needs and develop practical data solutions.
- Develop, test and deploy data engineering solutions using modern tools and technologies, ensuring performance, accuracy and scalability.
- Monitor, troubleshoot and optimise data processes, resolving issues and continuously improving system performance and reliability.
- Contribute to the ongoing enhancement of the Primary Health Insights platform through innovation, process improvement and best-practice data engineering.
- Provide technical guidance, documentation and support to help users effectively utilise data products and tools.
- Work closely with PHNs, vendors and internal teams to deliver data-driven solutions that improve health insights and outcomes.
Essential Skills And Experience
- A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Mathematics or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
- Minimum 4 years of professional experience in Data Engineering, Data Warehousing, or Data Analytics, preferably working with modern cloud-based data platforms and services
- Strong SQL skills and experience working with large, complex datasets.
- Experience developing and managing data pipelines, ETL/ELT processes and data models.
- Proficiency in data engineering tools and programming languages such as Python, R, Scala, C#, DBT or similar.
- Experience with Microsoft data platforms and tools, including Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse, Azure Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, SQL Server and/or Power BI.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and implement practical solutions.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- A collaborative approach and the ability to work effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
- Experience working in a healthcare environment.
- Familiarity with Agile delivery methodologies and project management tools such as Jira or Azure DevOps.
