Job Description:
We are seeking a Data Engineer to help build, maintain, and scale the company’s data platform. This role will own the development of reliable data pipelines, data transformation workflows, and data models that support internal applications, reporting, and analytics teams.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience with Databricks, Azure SQL, Python, and SQL, along with a passion for solving complex data challenges and improving data reliability. This is a highly autonomous role where the individual will have ownership over critical data processes and help shape the future of the company’s data infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build, maintain, and support end-to-end data pipelines from ingestion through delivery.
- Develop and schedule transformation workflows using Databricks, PySpark, Spark SQL, and Delta Lake.
- Design, manage, and optimize data models, schemas, views, and database structures.
- Support Azure SQL database administration, including performance tuning, security, access controls, and reliability.
- Integrate data from internal and external sources, including APIs and operational systems.
- Develop automated processes for data ingestion, transformation, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
- Implement data quality checks, error handling, workflow monitoring, and alerting processes.
- Create curated datasets to support application developers, business teams, and analytics users.
- Document data workflows, models, and processes to ensure long-term maintainability.
- 4+ years of experience in data engineering or a related data-focused role.
- Strong hands-on experience with Databricks, including Jobs/Workflows, PySpark, Spark SQL, and Delta Lake.
- Advanced SQL experience, including Azure SQL/T-SQL, query optimization, indexing, and schema design.
- Experience administering and maintaining production databases.
- Strong Python skills for data ingestion, automation, and transformation.
- Experience working with REST APIs, including authentication, pagination, and data extraction.
- Understanding of production data workflows, scheduling, monitoring, troubleshooting, and reliability practices.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently.
- This position will serve as the primary Data Engineer supporting the organization’s growing data platform.
- The role requires someone who is self-sufficient, proactive, and comfortable owning projects from concept through implementation.
- This position is focused on data engineering, data platforms, and data reliability — not frontend development, application development, or dashboard creation.
- Oil & gas or drilling industry experience is highly preferred but not required.
- ERP data experience, particularly NetSuite, is a plus.
