Sub-Regional Health and Safety Specialist, APAC

About the Role The Health and Safety (H&S) team is part of the Ethics, Compliance, and Security organization within Uber, in charge of making sure the company keeps employees safe and doing the right thing, period. The H&S team is responsible for ensuring the employees' safety and well-being are taken care of during the course of their employment.

---- What the Candidate Will Do ----

1. Lead programs and initiatives to reduce H&S incidents, manage H&S risks, and promote H&S compliance within the operational framework;
2. Implement H&S management systems, ensuring they meet the regional specifics while aligning with global objectives;
3. Serve as the primary H&S operational contact providing expertise and support to facility leaders to achieve H&S objectives;
4. Collaborate with H&S Delivery Specialists and other H&S professionals to develop and roll out region-specific H&S solutions that align with corporate standards.
5. Develop and maintain a strong network of H&S professionals across the regions, ensuring clear communication and the sharing of best practices.
6. Work with third-party FM providers on the implementation and adherence to Uber's global standards and expectations;
7. Manage the day-to-day relationship with the contractor's operations to ensure they adhere to Uber's standards and requirements.
8. Coordinate with People Operations and Human Resources on any Workplace accommodations.

---- Basic Qualifications ----

1. Bachelor's degree in safety management, environmental science, or related field.
2. Minimum of 5 years of experience in an H&S role, preferably in the corporate sector.
3. Knowledge of potentially hazardous materials or practices.
4. Experience in writing reports and policies for health and safety.
5. Familiarity with conducting data analysis and reporting statistics.

1. Relevant professional certifications (e.g., Certified Safety Professional, Certified Industrial Hygienist).
2. Effective communication and interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to influence and drive results in a complex organizational environment.
3. Prior experience with safety-related projects.
