Data Engineer

Purpose of the Role:

To lead and manage Marico's enterprise data and analytics platform, encompassing Snowflake data engineering and Power BI analytics. Ensuring reliable, high-performance operations that empower data-driven decision-making across the organization. The role serves as the central bridge between the data platform team and internal IT business application managers (BAMs) across functions (Sales, Marketing, R&D, etc.), drive ownership of self-service & analytics with the BAMs ensuring seamless data availability and insight delivery. Additionally, the role is responsible for driving an Analytics Center of Excellence (CoE) that continuously evaluates and adopts better solutions, vendors, and practices to elevate Marico's analytics landscape.

Job Responsibilities:

• Manage and mentor a team of Power BI developers and Snowflake data engineers, ensuring high-quality deliverables and professional growth
• Partner with internal IT business application managers who serve as IT partners to functions such as Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain, R&D, and Finance to understand data and analytics needs
• Ensure uptime, reliability, and smooth performance of Snowflake (data platform) and Power BI (analytics/reporting) environments
• Drive an Analytics Center of Excellence (CoE) for the IT function — continuously scout, evaluate, and onboard better solutions and vendors to improve the company's analytics landscape
• Define the enterprise data architecture framework, including security, reference data, metadata, and master data standards
• Define and implement a roadmap for Data Lifecycle Management and Self-Service Analytics across the organization
• Run the Master Data Management (MDM) CoE across the organization — ensure master data integrity and quality across all systems
• Identify data sources (internal and external) and develop a systematic plan for data management, including API frameworks for data retrieval
• Conduct continuous audits of the data management system covering performance, cost usage, and security — report any breaches or loopholes immediately to stakeholders
• Own cost management of data hosting vis-à-vis the technology stack, mapped with the lifecycle of data
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and vendors for smooth functioning of the enterprise data ecosystem
• Provide training and knowledge-sharing sessions to team members on best practices, tools, and emerging trends
