Staff Data Engineer – AI-First Software Platform

We are partnering with an innovative, well-funded technology company building a next-generation, AI-first software platform designed to modernize a large and highly fragmented industry. Rather than extending legacy systems, this organization is taking a greenfield approach—building an entirely new platform from the ground up with modern architecture, unified data, and AI embedded throughout the product experience.

About the Role

We're seeking a Staff Data Engineer who will own the data foundation that powers everything from product analytics and customer insights to AI capabilities and platform intelligence. This is far more than a traditional data engineering role. You'll help define how data is modeled, governed, and leveraged across an entire platform while working alongside Product, AI, Backend, and Engineering leaders.

Responsibilities

Data Platform & Architecture

• Design and build unified data models across multiple products and platforms
• Architect and own a modern enterprise data warehouse serving product, business, and AI initiatives
• Build scalable data pipelines and backend services supporting platform growth
• Establish a trusted, scalable foundation for analytics, reporting, and intelligent product experiences

Platform Engineering & AI Enablement

• Structure and manage data that powers AI-driven features and decision-making
• Lead efforts involving identity management, authentication, platform integrations, and shared services
• Design scalable APIs and distributed systems supporting long-term platform evolution
• Help define the organization's long-term data strategy and technical architecture

Cross-Functional Leadership

• Partner closely with Product, Backend, AI, Mobile, and Frontend teams
• Influence technical direction across engineering initiatives
• Mentor engineers while helping establish modern engineering standards and best practices
• Balance rapid iteration with long-term scalability and maintainability

Qualifications

Required

• 8+ years of backend engineering and/or data engineering experience
• Experience designing scalable backend systems, APIs, and modern data architectures
• Experience building and owning enterprise data warehouses and unified data models
• Deep understanding of distributed systems, identity, integrations, and platform architecture
• Experience leading cross-functional technical initiatives
• Strong communication, mentoring, and technical leadership skills

Pay range and compensation package

$180,000 Base + Unlimited PTO + Outstanding Benefits
