Own the data foundation powering a sovereign-data appliance platform for regulated organisations.

We’re building a per-customer appliance platform for financial services, public-sector agencies, and enterprise customers where data sovereignty is non-negotiable.

Every customer operates on a dedicated PostgreSQL 16 database running on its own Mac Studio appliance. There is no shared infrastructure, no multi-tenant database, and no compromise on ownership of customer data.

This is one of the most important data hires on the team.

The role combines two disciplines in order of priority:

1. Owning and operating the PostgreSQL platform that powers every customer appliance.

2. Designing the canonical data model and integration pipelines that bring enterprise data into the platform.

You’ll help define how customer data is stored, secured, replicated, integrated, and governed across the entire product.

CHN is a Malaysian IT managed services provider specialising in Device as a Service, endpoint management, and digital workplace solutions for regulated and enterprise customers.

We are now building a next-generation AI-enabled managed service platform designed for:

· Financial services

· Government ministries

· Regulated enterprises

· Sovereignty-sensitive environments

The team will remain intentionally small — six to eight engineers plus product, design, security, and QA — with significant ownership for every hire.

What You'll Do

Own the Data Platform

· Design, build, and operate per-customer PostgreSQL 16 deployments

· Implement and maintain:

• Row-Level Security (RLS)
• Backup and recovery strategies
• Point-in-Time Recovery (PITR)
• Streaming replication
• High-availability patterns

· Ensure database operations meet the expectations of regulated customers and auditors

· Define operational runbooks for backup validation, recovery testing, failover, and maintenance

Own Data Integration & Canonical Modelling

· Design the canonical data model used across the platform

· Define the adapter contract that every enterprise connector implements

· Build ETL / ELT pipelines that ingest, transform, validate, and reconcile data

· Support integrations including:

• Active Directory / Entra ID
• Microsoft Intune
• Jamf Pro
• ManageEngine
• Future enterprise systems

· Partner with Product, Backend, and Integration teams to ensure data consistency across the platform

Platform & Engineering Excellence

· Document architectural decisions through ADRs

· Build observability and monitoring for data quality and database health

· Partner with the Tech Lead on database architecture, resilience, and scaling decisions

· Work daily with Claude Code as part of the engineering workflow:

• Plan
• Generate
• Review
• Document

What We're Looking For

· 5+ years hands-on experience operating PostgreSQL in production environments

· Deep understanding of:

• PostgreSQL internals
• Row-Level Security (RLS)
• PITR
• Replication
• Backup and recovery strategies

· Experience designing and operating data integration or ETL platforms

· Strong SQL capability and database performance tuning experience

· Experience building canonical data models and integration contracts

· Familiarity with enterprise identity and endpoint-management data sources

· Strong ownership mindset and ability to operate independently

· Comfortable working in a small, high-accountability engineering team

Nice to Have

· Experience with:

• Airbyte
• dbt
• Airflow
• or comparable orchestration platforms

· Exposure to:

• Microsoft Graph
• LDAP / Active Directory
• Jamf Pro
• Intune

· Experience supporting regulated industries

· Familiarity with data governance and audit requirements

· Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development workflows
