Engineer Technical Analyst
Location: Grand Rapids, MI (Onsite – Monday-Friday or 4x10 Schedule)
Contract: 12 Months (Strong Potential for Extension)
Are you passionate about solving technical problems, analyzing data, and supporting critical utility operations? We're looking for an Engineer Technical Analyst to join a high-performing Grid Operations team responsible for maintaining the accuracy of outage management data that helps restore power safely and efficiently.
This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with experience in engineering technology, utility operations, dispatch, GIS, construction technology, technical analysis, or data quality who enjoy working in a fast-paced, mission-critical environment.
What You'll Do
As part of the Grid Operations team, you'll play a vital role in ensuring the integrity of the utility's Outage Management System (OMS). Your work will directly support dispatchers, field crews, and restoration efforts by validating outage information and correcting data discrepancies.
Responsibilities include:
- Analyze outage events and validate outage management data.
- Investigate and correct OMS records to ensure data accuracy.
- Support dispatch and field operations by maintaining accurate outage information.
- Review outage start and restoration times, hazard information, and asset data.
- Identify inconsistencies and perform data quality corrections.
- Assist during storm restoration events and other high-volume operational periods.
- Interpret maps, schematics, and utility system information.
- Perform technical and administrative support with minimal supervision.
What We're Looking For
We're seeking someone with a strong technical mindset who enjoys solving problems and making data-driven decisions.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Computer Science, Construction Technology, GIS, or a related technical discipline.
- OR Associate's degree with 2+ years of relevant technical experience.
- OR High School diploma with 4+ years of relevant technical experience.
Ideal Experience Includes:
- Utility operations or electric distribution
- Outage Management Systems (OMS)
- Dispatch or control center operations
- GIS or mapping systems
- SCADA or ADMS exposure
- Data quality or asset management
- Technical analysis
- Construction technology or electrical infrastructure
- Telecommunications dispatch or operations
