Job Title: AI Developer
Location: Remote (On-site as needed in Central PA)
Type: Full-Time
Summary
We are seeking an AI Developer to support a transportation agency as it modernizes its operations through Artificial Intelligence, advanced analytics, and intelligent automation. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building practical AI solutions that improve business processes, enhance decision-making, and support enterprise modernization initiatives.
Working alongside business analysts, data engineers, technical architects, and government stakeholders, you will help design, develop, and implement AI-powered applications that improve transportation safety, operational efficiency, and organizational knowledge management.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Design and build AI-powered applications using Large Language Models (LLMs) such as GPT, Claude, or Gemini.
- Develop AI agents and automation workflows to improve business processes.
- Create and enhance AI prototypes, turning concepts into scalable solutions.
- Build API integrations between AI applications and enterprise systems.
- Analyze and prepare data to support AI models and business insights.
- Collaborate with business and technical teams to gather requirements and develop AI solutions.
- Support AI initiatives focused on transportation operations, safety, and data modernization.
- Maintain technical documentation and share AI best practices with project teams.
- Participate in Agile development, testing, and deployment activities.
- Support cloud-based AI deployments and contribute to enterprise architecture and modernization strategies.
- Follow secure software development practices and support governance for responsible AI implementation.
Qualifications- Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Data Science, or a related field.
- 3+ years of professional software development experience.
- Proficiency in Python and/or JavaScript.
- Experience developing AI-powered applications using Large Language Models (LLMs) such as GPT, Claude, Gemini, or similar.
- Knowledge of prompt engineering and AI application development.
- Experience with AI agent frameworks such as LangGraph, LangChain, CrewAI, AutoGen, or similar.
- Experience building and integrating REST APIs.
- Familiarity with SQL and/or NoSQL databases.
- Experience working with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.
- Experience developing automation workflows or AI-enabled business applications.
- Familiarity with Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), vector databases, or semantic search technologies is a plus.
- Experience with Azure OpenAI, AWS Bedrock, Google Vertex AI, or similar AI services is a plus.
- Experience supporting federal, state, or local government clients is preferred.
- Familiarity with Git, Agile development practices, and CI/CD pipelines is a plus.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Must be able to pass a background check
- Preferred residence within commutable driving distance to central PA
