About the role

We're looking for an experienced Data Engineer to join our team.

The project is part of a large-scale data and AI initiative for an industrial manufacturing company. The main focus is to build an anomaly detection solution for industrial sensor and waveform data.

The consultant will design and implement streaming and batch data pipelines, support feature engineering and data exploration, and collaborate closely with business and operations teams. The goal is to improve failure detection accuracy, reduce false positives, and enable reusable ML models across different sites.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and implement streaming and batch data pipelines for ingestion, integration, data quality, transformations, and auditing
• Perform feature engineering and data exploration
• Collaborate with business and operations teams to align requirements and standardize sensor data
• Build and maintain gold data layers, KPIs, and PoC evaluation frameworks
• Set up strong engineering practices around CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, Git, testing, and documentation

Requirements:

• Senior-level Data Engineering experience
• Strong hands-on experience with Azure and Databricks
• Experience with MLflow
• Strong engineering mindset and exposure to data and ML workflows
• Comfortable working in cross-functional and industrial data environments
• Strong English skills, ideally C1

Onsite expectations:

• The client’s office is located in Budapest, Hungary. At the beginning of the engagement, there will be workshops that require in-person attendance. After that, the expected office presence is approximately 1–2 times per month. This is more of a guideline than a strict policy. Occasional international travel may also be required.

• Databricks-based ML workflows
• MLflow model lifecycle management
• Model serving endpoints
• Model versioning, testing, and tuning
• Statistical normalization techniques, for example z-score
• Signal processing experience, for example FFT transformation
