Senior Backend Engineer

🚀 We're hiring: Senior Backend Engineer @ Narwhal Labs

📍 Bristol, UK | Full-time (must be able to commit to 4 days per week in the office)

Narwhal Labs is building DeepBlue OS — autonomous revenue infrastructure that helps businesses answer every call, follow up every lead, and log every interaction across Voice, SMS, Email and WhatsApp. We're an NVIDIA Inception Program Member and Google Partner, a 38-person team that launched our platform in May 2026.

We're looking for a Senior Backend Developer to help architect and scale the systems behind it — and to help grow the engineers around them.

What you'll do:

🔧 Design, build and maintain scalable backend services and APIs (primarily Python)

🧠 Integrate AI and LLM-powered features into our platform

👥 Mentor junior developers through code review and pair programming

🏗️ Shape our system architecture and long-term technical roadmap 🤝 Work closely with product, design and engineering to ship high-impact features

What you'll bring:

✅ 5+ years backend development experience (Python, .NET/C#, PHP)

✅ Strong RESTful APIs, microservices, auth, and database design (SQL/NoSQL)

✅ Cloud experience (AWS, Azure, or GCP)

✅ Experience mentoring developers or leading small teams

✅ Familiarity with AI/ML frameworks, LLMs, or data pipelines

Bonus points for:

⭐ Docker/Kubernetes experience

⭐ CI/CD and DevOps exposure

⭐ MLOps or model deployment knowledge

⭐ Frontend chops (Next.js, Node.js, TypeScript, React)

⭐ Distributed systems / event-driven architecture experience
