About The Position
Foursquare is looking for a Data Operations Associate to join our team in our Belgrade office; on a hybrid schedule of Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday in office.
We are looking for a highly motivated Data Operations Associate to join our team. In this role, you will be primarily focused on executing web crawls, manipulating data, and utilizing internal pipeline tools to ensure data quality and availability. This is an internally focused, highly technical role where persistence, vigilance, and the ability to learn and iterate quickly are essential. If you enjoy solving technical puzzles, building and maintaining data flows, and continuously learning new skills, we want you on our team!
Please note that this is a fixed-term position for an initial period of one year, with the possibility of extension.
In this role, you’ll
- Web Crawling & Extraction: Execute and manage web crawling initiatives, extracting data, and adapting quickly when target site structures change.
- Data Manipulation & Pipelines: Utilize internal tools to perform data cleanup, matching, and transformations to ensure high data quality and reliability.
- Technical Troubleshooting: Be vigilant in monitoring data pipelines; investigate issues, read and interpret log files, implement workarounds, and escalate complex technical problems.
- Continuous Improvement: Learn and adapt to new internal tools and technical processes rapidly, iterating on existing workflows to improve efficiency.
- Documentation: Create and maintain technical process documentation and how-to guides to empower internal teams
- Proficient level of written and verbal English
- 1+ years of experience working in data-oriented customer operations, technical support, analytics, or similar roles.
- Solid understanding of Python or Scala, with strong SQL skills.
- Familiarity with Regular Expressions (Regex) for pattern matching, data extraction, validation, and web content processing.
- Familiarity with data analysis tools and libraries (e.g., PySpark, pandas), web crawling concepts and execution.
- General technical troubleshooting skills: ability to read/interpret/transform log files, comfort navigating command-line interfaces (CLI) and APIs, and a strong capacity for independent research.
