Data Engineer - (Benchmark data platform)

Principal Data Engineer to lead the design and evolution of a centralized benchmark data platform that supports critical investment operations and enterprise-wide data initiatives. This is a highly technical, hands-on role where you’ll drive architecture, solve complex data integration challenges, and build scalable solutions that serve multiple business teams.

You’ll work with benchmark data from leading market data providers, designing robust data models and pipelines that transform fragmented information into a single, trusted source of truth. What You’ll Do

• Lead the architecture, design, and development of a centralized benchmark master data platform.
• Design scalable databases, data models, and enterprise-grade ETL/ELT pipelines that integrate data from multiple vendor and internal sources.
• Implement Master Data Management (MDM) strategies to standardize, reconcile, and govern benchmark data across the organization.
• Build automated data reconciliation and synchronization processes that improve consistency and accuracy across disparate data providers.
• Modernize existing data warehouse architecture to simplify access to benchmark and reference data while improving performance and maintainability.
• Partner with infrastructure, database, and application teams to deliver secure, scalable, and production-ready solutions.
• Monitor platform health, troubleshoot production issues, and continuously improve data quality, reliability, and operational efficiency.
• Mentor engineers through technical leadership, code reviews, and architectural guidance while contributing as a hands-on developer throughout the software development lifecycle.

What You’ll Bring

• 10+ years of experience in data engineering, backend engineering, or enterprise data platform development.
• Strong experience working with financial data, ideally benchmark, index, reference, or market data within an investment management, asset management, or capital markets environment.
• Deep expertise in SQL and relational database technologies, including platforms such as Snowflake, SQL Server, Oracle, and Sybase.
• Proven experience designing and optimizing enterprise-scale data platforms, data warehouses, and high-volume data pipelines.
• Strong understanding of ETL/ELT architecture, data modeling, data governance, and Master Data Management (MDM) principles.
• Experience building backend applications using Python.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose complex production issues across distributed systems.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across engineering, infrastructure, and business teams.
