Remediation Calculation Specialist

You’ll play a critical role in a large and evolving remediation programme, where accuracy and judgement matter. Working closely with Pricing, Data and Remediation teams, you’ll take ownership of how customer refunds are calculated, building robust methodologies and tools that can stand up to scrutiny and scale. With a significant pipeline of remediation work underway, your work will directly enable fair, consistent outcomes for customers and help move complex issues through to resolution.
This is a permanent full-time role based in multiple locations across Aotearoa New Zealand.
Ngā Mahi Hei Whakatutuki Māu | What You'll Do
- Design and define refund methodologies, documenting assumptions, decisions and limitations to ensure transparency and consistency.
- Build and deliver robust refund calculators that enable remediation to be executed accurately and at scale.
- Partner with Pricing, Data and Remediation teams to determine data requirements and ensure integrity of inputs used in calculations.
- Analyse complex scenarios, applying sound judgement to ensure calculations reflect the nuances of each remediation issue.
- Contribute to improving methodologies and analytics to strengthen consistency, quality and efficiency across remediation activity.
- Support audit and review processes, including peer review, ensuring outputs are accurate, defensible and fit for purpose.
- Strong hands-on experience in pricing, actuarial or quantitative analytics within financial services, with depth in at least one of these areas.
- Deep understanding of insurance pricing concepts and how they translate into real customer outcomes.
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving capability, with the ability to work through complex scenarios and deliver precise, reliable outputs.
- Proficiency in data tools or programming such as SQL, SAS, Python, Power BI or Tableau.
- Ability to clearly communicate complex methodologies and calculations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Proven ability to manage multiple workstreams while maintaining accuracy in a fast-moving environment.
