YOUR ROLE

We're seeking a Senior Analytics Engineer to help shape the future of data-driven decision making at our rapidly growing insurance technology company. As a key member of our data team, you'll architect and implement end-to-end analytics solutions that power both strategic insights and operational workflows. You'll work at the intersection of our modern data stack and business operations, building robust data models, implementing reverse ETL solutions, and creating impactful visualizations that drive business outcomes.

This role offers a unique opportunity to work with cutting-edge tools (dbt, Snowflake, Fivetran, Tableau, Hex, Claude) while having significant influence on our data strategy and technical architecture. You'll collaborate closely with customer success, product, and business teams to transform complex data into actionable insights and automated data workflows.

What You'll Do

  • Design and maintain data models using dbt, ensuring efficient and scalable analytics solutions
  • Create and optimize data visualizations across multiple BI tools
  • Design and implement reverse ETL pipelines to sync data to operational systems
  • Develop and maintain Python scripts for predictive models and automation
  • Build and document reliable data pipelines that transform raw data into analytics-ready datasets
  • Create and manage JIRA epics, stories, and tasks to track development work
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions
  • Implement and maintain data quality testing frameworks
  • Design, build, and govern our centralized semantic layer to standardize business metrics and enable true self-service analytics across Tableau, Sigma, and Hex.
  • Integrate AI and LLM capabilities into data pipelines (e.g., via Snowflake Cortex, Hex, or Python) to automate data enrichment, text analysis, and predictive modeling for insurance use cases.
  • Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

YOUR LOCATION

This is a fully remote role, with the exception of onboarding and optional in-office events.

Skills & Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in analytics engineering or similar technical roles
  • Expert-level SQL skills and experience with understanding of data warehouse concepts
  • Hands-on experience with dbt for data transformation and data modeling
  • Proficiency in building dashboards and reports using Tableau, Hex, Sigma, or Power BI
  • Experience in commercial insurance, financial services, or venture-backed technology
  • companies
  • Track record of building data solutions in B2B SaaS or enterprise software companies
  • Working knowledge of Python for predictive modeling, automation, and reporting
  • Experience with version control systems (Git) and CI/CD practices
  • Experience with reverse ETL tools (Census, Hightouch, or similar)
  • Experience using JIRA for project management and tracking
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field
  • Excellent communication skills with high attention to detail
  • Candidate is a self-starter who can work in an extremely fast-paced environment while juggling simultaneous initiatives and meeting strict deadlines
  • Expert-level SQL and Python skills with expertise in cloud data warehouses, specifically Snowflake (required) and AWS Redshift (preferred).
  • Proven experience building and maintaining a semantic layer / metrics catalog to serve multiple downstream applications.
  • Practical experience leveraging AI/LLMs within a data stack to solve business problems (e.g., prompt engineering via SQL, vector databases, or utilizing GenAI tools in Hex/Snowflake).
  • Experience working with data lakehouse technologies, including Apache Iceberg and AWS Glue is a plus.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to sit/stand/walk for prolonged periods of time (up to 8 hours per day), at a desk working on a computer.
  • Must be able to use standard office equipment for extended periods of time, including but not limited to, a mouse, keyboard, phone and video conferencing.
