Through the Redbubble and TeePublic marketplaces, independent artists are able to profit from their creativity and reach a new universe of adoring fans. For the artists' customers, it's the ultimate in self-expression. A simple but meaningful way to show the world who they are and what they care about.

The Role's Purpose

Articore is seeking a Data Engineer to join our growing data team. You'll be a key contributor to Articore's data infrastructure - building reliable pipelines across our backend services, integrating third-party data systems, and partnering with data users across the organisation to turn raw data into trustworthy, scalable insights.

You'll sit at the intersection of engineering and analytics, helping the business make better decisions through high-quality, well-governed data. This is a role for someone who takes pride in building things that last — and who genuinely enjoys collaborating with the people who depend on their work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and launch data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL/ELT) processes that power decision-making across the business.
  • Lead data modelling efforts — transforming application and third-party data into well-structured, warehouse-ready assets, and translating business requirements into actionable, scalable data solutions.
  • Build and maintain integrations within our infrastructure and to third-party systems (e.g. Salesforce, Marketo, AWS, Facebook, Google).
  • Help implement and maintain systems for data governance — ensuring data quality, consistency, accuracy, and privacy across the organisation.
  • Collaborate with and support data engineers, analysts, and data consumers across the organisation, contributing to a high data literacy culture.
  • Support marketing technology platforms, including Rudderstack (eventing and CDP), Google Tag Manager, and SMS/Email Service Providers.

Qualifications & Experience

  • 4+ years of professional experience in data engineering or a closely related discipline.
  • Cloud Infrastructure: Demonstrated experience building data infrastructure on public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • Modern Data Stack: Solid familiarity with ETL/ELT tooling, including data warehousing (Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery), data ingestion, transformation (dbt, SQLMesh), and orchestration (Airflow, Prefect, Dagster).
  • Data Modelling: Experience with data modelling, with exposure to one or more paradigms (Kimball/dimensional, one-big-table, Data Vault).
  • SQL & Python: Strong SQL skills and proficiency in at least one programming language — Python strongly preferred.
  • BI & Analytics Support: Experience supporting cloud-based BI tools (Sigma, Looker, Tableau) and the analyst teams that depend on them.
  • AI-Augmented Development: Demonstrable experience using AI in day-to-day development tasks, including knowledge of models, memory, context, and permission structures.
  • Global Collaboration: Experience working with 24/7 global development teams where collaboration, clear handoffs, and flexibility are necessary for success.

Key Competencies

  • Detail-Oriented Problem-Solver: You work through ambiguous, complex challenges methodically — finding reliable, scalable solutions without losing sight of the bigger picture.
  • Stakeholder Translator: You bridge the gap between business and data, turning requirements into actionable solutions and communicating clearly with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Self-Directed Leader: You're comfortable leading projects independently, managing competing priorities, and driving work through to completion without waiting to be told what comes next.
  • Collaborative Builder: You're inclusive and generous with your knowledge — lifting the capability of data engineers, analysts, and stakeholders across time zones and experience levels.
  • Committed to Craft: You care about building things that last. You're always seeking more scalable, repeatable patterns — and you're never satisfied with good enough.

Work Environment

  • Hybrid work model, with three days on-site presence required (Melbourne, AU).
  • Collaboration across time zones to support our global teams in Melbourne and New York.

What We Offer

  • High Trust Culture: Thrive in an environment built on mutual respect where your voice matters.
  • Flexible Work Arrangements: The opportunity to balance your work and personal life with flexible schedules.
  • Global Opportunities: Be part of a global organisation that offers diverse and enriching experiences.
  • Monthly Wellness Allowance: Take care of yourself with a monthly wellness allowance to spend on your health and well-being.
  • Exclusive Vouchers and Discounts: Benefit from amazing deals and discounts on our online marketplaces.
