Title: GitHub Architect – DevOps
Role Overview
The GitHub Architect at UST is a senior technical role within the PACE / DevOps ecosystem, responsible for designing, migrating, and governing GitHub Enterprise platforms for UST enterprise clients. This role supports large-scale DevOps transformations, SCM modernization, and automation enablement across delivery accounts, while ensuring compliance, security, and platform stability. The role will also focus on Kubernetes-based application deployments, Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD automation, and DevOps best practices, with a strong emphasis on Kubernetes, Terraform, GitHub, and GitHub Actions.
The Architect Works Closely With
- PACE Architects, Account Architects & Delivery Leads
- Client Engineering & DevSecOps teams
- Design and deploy GitHub Enterprise Cloud/Server for UST client environments.
- Define org structure, repo strategy, access control models, and governance standards.
- Establish enterprise Git workflows, branching models, and release strategies aligned to client SDLC.
- Lead legacy SCM to GitHub migrations, including:
- Full commit history migration
- Repo re-architecture and restructuring
- User, team, and permission mapping
- Git LFS strategy for large artifacts
- Own migration tooling, validation, rollback planning, and cutover execution.
- Architect and standardize CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions.
- Develop reusable automation frameworks for:
- Repository onboarding
- Policy enforcement
- Compliance and audit readiness
- Use Python, Bash, or PowerShell to automate GitHub operations and DevOps workflows.
- Design and architect cloud-based DevOps platforms aligned with security, scalability, and compliance requirements.
- Lead the design and implementation of Kubernetes clusters for multi-environment (Dev/Test/Prod) workloads.
- Implement Helm charts for application packaging, deployment, and lifecycle management.
- Security, Compliance & Governance
- Implement secure-by-design GitHub patterns, including:
- Least-privilege access
- Secrets management
- Audit logging and compliance controls
- Align GitHub usage with client security, DevSecOps, and regulatory standards.
- Ensure platform security, RBAC, secrets management, logging, monitoring, and auditability.
- Act as the subject-matter expert for PACE and delivery teams.
- Provide architecture guidance to:
- DevOps engineers
- Application teams
- Client architects
- Define DevOps governance, branching strategies, environment promotion, and release management processes.
- Create documentation, runbooks, and enablement material for sustained adoption.
- Mentor DevOps and engineering teams on best practices and platform usage.
- 5+ years in Architect or Senior DevOps / SCM Engineering roles.
- Strong understanding of DevOps principles, CI/CD, and cloud-native architectures.
- Hands-on expertise with GitHub Enterprise (Cloud).
- Deep understanding of Git internals, branching strategies, and repo design.
- Extensive experience with GitHub and GitHub Actions or enterprise CI/CD automation and platform.
- Proven experience migrating large Perforce repositories to GitHub.
- Strong scripting skills: Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
- Strong hands-on experience with public cloud services (Azure, AWS, GCP).
- Deep expertise in Kubernetes Service – design, operations, and troubleshooting.
- Strong experience with Helm for Kubernetes application deployments.
- Experience designing secure, highly available, and scalable platforms.
- GitHub Administration or equivalent SCM certification.
- Experience supporting multiple client accounts simultaneously.
- Exposure to regulated enterprise environments.
- Ability to work in PACE + delivery hybrid models.
- Exposure to GitOps practices and modern DevOps governance models.
- Solutions Architect Expert certification from any commercial cloud providers (Azure, AWS, GCP)
- Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) or Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD)
