Mars is a $50B+ global powerhouse driving the next generation of digital transformation. We are a family-owned business operating in 80+ countries with over 150,000 Associates. Guided by our Five Principles—Quality, Responsibility, Mutuality, Efficiency, and Freedom—we are currently embarking on a massive Digital Core program to modernize our global technology landscape and build the future of our enterprise cloud capabilities.
When you join Mars, you join a purpose-driven company where we’re striving to build the world we want tomorrow, today.
The Opportunity
As a Cloud Center of Excellence (CCoE) Solution Architect , you will play a critical role in driving the design, architecture, and delivery of cloud solutions for the entire organization. You will collaborate with a global team of architects to develop and implement Mars’ platforms and cloud-based systems that power our operations every day.
Working within the CCoE Client Solutions team, you will act as a bridge between cloud architects, enterprise architecture, security, and business stakeholders. Your mission will be to develop services, establish landing zones, and design secure, scalable architectures for high-impact, unique digital projects.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will balance technical excellence with collaborative enablement. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Architectural Design & Blueprinting: Assess business demands and technical requirements to create robust, highly available, and fault-tolerant Low-Level Designs (LLDs).
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Lead the implementation of cloud solutions utilizing modern IaC practices (Git, Terraform) to automate and scale deployments.
- Scalability & Performance: Design and architect systems that support elasticity, ensuring cost-optimizations and peak performance.
- Security & Compliance: Ensure all solutions align strictly with the Mars Cloud Adoption Framework, Security Principles, and Well-Architected Frameworks.
- Collaboration & Leadership: Act as the Single Point of Contact (SPOC) in the CCoE for customer LLD/Deployment Projects, guiding cross-functional design discussions and contributing to the service catalog's evolution.
- Cloud Advocacy: Act as a Cloud Ambassador across Mars, promoting cloud adoption, sharing best practices, and mentoring other technical teams.
What We Are Looking For
Core Technical Skills & Experience (Must-Haves):
- Proven GCP Expertise: Hands-on experience architecting and deploying enterprise-grade solutions on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and its primary services.
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Strong experience deploying cloud infrastructure via Terraform and managing workflows with Git.
- Solution Design & Integration: Deep proficiency in application architecture, system integration, data modeling, and designing for high availability/disaster recovery.
- Software Engineering Foundation: In-depth knowledge of modern software development principles, methodologies, and enterprise architectures.
- Security Mindset: Practical understanding of cloud security principles, identity and access management (IAM), data protection, and compliance standards.
Leadership & Soft Skills:
- Stakeholder Management: Experience translating complex technical concepts into clear business value for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Problem-Solving: Exceptional analytical and structured problem-solving skills with a track record of driving clarity in ambiguous environments.
- Collaboration: Proven ability to work effectively in cross-functional, multicultural, and global teams.
Nice-to-Haves:
- Experience with other major cloud platforms (such as Microsoft Azure or AWS).
- Familiarity with enterprise architecture frameworks (e.g., TOGAF).
- Professional GCP certifications (e.g., Professional Cloud Architect, Professional Cloud Security Engineer).
What to Expect in This Role
- Balancing Speed and Governance: The Cloud CoE is an enabler, not a bottleneck. Your success means building robust landing zones that protect our enterprise systems while empowering developers to innovate at pace.
- Complex Multi-Stakeholder Collaboration: You will regularly coordinate between software developers, security officers, and business leaders. Clear, jargon-free communication is your primary tool for aligning vision.
What Can You Expect from Mars?
- Collaborative Culture: Work with diverse, talented, and highly supportive Associates, all guided by the Five Principles.
- Continuous Learning: Access to best-in-class learning and development support from day one, including our in-house Mars University and specialized cloud certification pathways.
- Competitive Compensation: An industry-competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package, including a performance-based company bonus.
- Global Impact: The opportunity to work on projects that directly influence a global scale, touching millions of lives every day.
