Job Title: Research Software Engineer
Office Location: SLB, 640 W. California Avenue, Suite 210, Sunnyvale, CA 94086
Position Overview: The candidate should have demonstratable, hands-on skills in at least two of the main themes of the Foundations Lab which include:
- Databases and data platforms
- RAG, LLMs & AI agents
- Distributed system architectures
- ML & MLOps.
- Cloud & Kubernetes
- Large scale data systems
Key Responsibilities
Depending on their level of experience, the successful candidate would be expected to contribute in several of the following areas:
- Establish and drive thought leadership opportunities related to topics of importance.
- Generate innovative ideas, establish new technology development directions, and shape and execute technical projects.
- Work with AI engineers to integrate ML solutions in the wider technology landscape.
- Maintain state-of-the-art knowledge and contribute to technical discussions and reviews as an expert in related areas of responsibility.
- Actively disseminate knowledge via webinars, talks and tutorials for the technical community within SLB.
- Work across multiple cross-functional teams in high-visibility roles to prototype end-to-end data and software solutions.
- Apply best practices in software design, DevOps, coding, testing, security and automation.
- Willingness to provide technical, social, and practical mentorship guidance to others as needed.
- MS / Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Science or similar disciplines.
- 15+ years of relevant experience in technical areas related to cloud computing, distributed computing, ML Engineering, natural language processing, database systems, security, data platforms.
- Software development best practices.
- Experience with cloud environments such as GCP, Azure and AWS.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
