IT Analyst Principal – Principal Infrastructure Engineer

Salary: $143,186.92 - $174,044.60 Annually

Solano County is seeking an accomplished Principal Infrastructure Engineer to help guide the County’s enterprise infrastructure strategy, cloud adoption, technology modernization, cybersecurity architecture, and AI-enabled initiatives.

This is an opportunity to serve as a senior technical engineer and trusted advisor to County leadership, technical teams, business stakeholders, and technology partners while helping shape secure, resilient, scalable, and sustainable technology solutions that support critical public services.

The ideal candidate is an experienced infrastructure and cloud architect with broad technical expertise across enterprise infrastructure, Microsoft Azure or equivalent cloud platforms, identity management, Zero Trust security, networking, disaster recovery, automation, application hosting, and vendor-delivered technology solutions. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys evaluating complex technical options, explaining tradeoffs, challenging assumptions, and recommending practical solutions that balance business needs, security, operational supportability, cost, and long-term sustainability.
