Job Summary
Kayana Solutions Inc. is seeking a highly experienced Lead Cloud Engineer to lead the design, delivery, and operations of scalable, secure, high-performance, and cost-efficient cloud-native solutions across the organization.
The role is central to enabling Kayana’s cloud engineering and platform operations by integrating systems, productizing data and services, and streamlining processes across internal and external stakeholders.
Working closely with business, product, and engineering teams, the Lead Cloud Engineer will translate business requirements into end-to-end cloud solutions that meet performance, security, and compliance standards.
The role also includes cloud operations support to ensure platform stability, optimization, and continuous improvement, while driving reliable and efficient cloud infrastructure services across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and manage scalable, secure, and high-performance cloud architectures across PaaS, SaaS, API-driven, and data-centric platforms, while defining and enforcing cloud-native engineering standards
- Ensure reliability, availability, scalability, and operational efficiency of cloud platforms and infrastructure services
- Lead the implementation of Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform and CloudFormation, promoting reusable modules and engineering best practices
- Integrate cloud infrastructure with CI/CD and DevOps toolchains such as GitHub Actions and Jenkins to enable automated and efficient deployments
- Define and implement monitoring, logging, alerting, and observability solutions across infrastructure, platform, and application layers
- Enforce cloud security best practices including secure configurations, encryption, IAM, network security, and compliance controls, while conducting regular security reviews and remediation activities
- Support audit and compliance requirements by maintaining cloud documentation, architecture standards, operational logs, and evidence artifacts
- Optimize cloud environments through autoscaling, serverless technologies, managed services, and cost-efficiency initiatives to improve platform performance and reduce operational overhead
- Develop and maintain cloud analytics, dashboards, tagging standards, and operational reporting to improve visibility, governance, and resource management
- Collaborate closely with engineering, infrastructure, security, data, and vendor teams to ensure solutions meet technical, operational, and security requirements
- Provide technical leadership in the evaluation, implementation, and optimization of cloud-native technologies and platform services
- Establish and continuously improve platform reliability, operational support, incident management, and root cause analysis practices
- Provide hands-on support during major incidents, platform failures, and performance troubleshooting activities
- Evaluate emerging cloud technologies, automation tools, and engineering practices to improve platform capabilities and operational maturity
- Identify opportunities to enhance automation, infrastructure efficiency, reliability, and cloud platform engineering practices.
Qualifications:
- At least 8 years of experience in cloud engineering, DevOps, IT infrastructure, or systems administration.
- Proven experience in design, implementation, maintenance, and support of organization-wide cloud platforms and cloud native solutions (AWS)
- Knowledge on various cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Familiarity with multi-cloud or hybrid cloud environments is a plus
- Working knowledge of networking concepts such as VPCs, subnets, firewalls, and routing.
- Familiarity with scripting languages (Python, Bash, or PowerShell) and version control (Git).
- Hands-on exposure to Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
- Proficiency in Terraform and CloudFormation
- Knowledge on IAM, encryption, network security, and compliance standards
- Cost and resource utilization and optimization of cloud solutions
- Proficiency in various tools:
- Cloud - AWS; integration-related and data-related services
- API Management - AWS API Gateway
- DevOps and CI/CD tools – GitHub Actions, Jenkins, AWS CI/CD services
- Containerization - Docker, Kubernetes, EKS
- Secrets and Identity Management - AWS Secrets Manager
- Observability - AWS CloudWatch, ELK Stack
- Encourage innovation and continuous improvement in cloud delivery and operations
Education / Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- AWS Cloud Practitioner Certification
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate
- Other relevant certifications in cloud, DevOps, integration, data, or security are a plus (i.e., Terraform, Kubernetes, GCP/Azure)
