Developer – CMS Platform

Position Overview

LG&P is seeking an experienced and passionate Developer to help drive the evolution of our proprietary Content Management System (CMS) platform This platform serves as the backbone for content management of our remote media players, providing real-time health monitoring, reporting, and analytics across a distributed network of devices. The ideal candidate is a

hands-on technical leader who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment, takes ownership of their work, and is capable of guiding both architecture decisions and day-to-day development. This is a full-time opportunity, working remotely and from our facility in Lexington, Kentucky.

Responsibilities and Duties

Platform Development & Architecture

• Support the design, development, and maintenance of the LG&P CMS platform, including content delivery ,remote media player management, and health/analytics reporting
• Architect and implement scalable microservices and RESTful API solutions to support platform growth
• Support the full development lifecycle — from requirements gathering and technical scoping through deployment and post-launch support
• Drive platform performance optimization, reliability, and security best practices
• Evaluate and introduce new technologies and frameworks that improve platform capability and developer productivity

Cloud Infrastructure & DevOps

• Manage and optimize AWS infrastructure includingEC2, RDS, ElastiCache (Redis), S3, SES, and QuickSight
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines to support automated testing and continuous deployment
• Oversee containerization strategies using Docker and manage service orchestration
• Ensure platform uptime, scalability, and disaster recovery readiness

Messaging & Integrations

• Design and maintain messaging architecture using RabbitMQ and MQTT for real-time communication with remote media players
• Develop and maintain integrations with third-party APIs and internal services
• Collaborate with with hardware and operations teams to ensure seamless data flow between field devices and the platform

Reporting & Analytics

• Develop and maintain analytics dashboards and health reporting features using AWS QuickSight and related data tools
• Define data models and pipelines that surface actionable insights for internal teams and clients
• Own QA and data validation processes for each new client instance onboarded

Team Leadership & Collaboration

• Serve as the technical lead and primary point of contact for all CMS platform development
• Collaborate cross-functionally with the EST, PM, and A&F teams to align platform capabilities with project needs
• Participate in project planning, sprint reviews, and technical scoping sessions
• Mentor junior developers and contribute to a culture of quality, accountability, and continuous improvement
• Maintain clear and up-to-date technical documentation for all platform components

Required Skills & Qualifications

Cloud & Infrastracture

• Proficient with AWS services: EC2, RDS, ElastiCache (Redis), S3, SES, QuickSight, and API Gateway
• Hands-on experience with Docker and containerized application deployment
• Solid understanding of CI/CD pipeline sand DevOps practices
• Working knowledge of Linux command line and server administration
• Experience with microservices architecture and RESTful API design

Backend Development

• Strong proficiency in PHP 8 and the Symfony 6 framework
• Experience with MySQL8, including schema design, query optimization, and database administration
• Proficiency in Python 3 with experience in Django5, FastAPI, and/or Flask
• Experience with message broker systems, specifically RabbitMQ and MQTT

Frontend Development

• Proficiency in JavaScript and TypeScript
• Experience with React 16 and Redux for building dynamic, responsive user interfaces
• Familiarity with Webpack and SASS for modern frontend build pipelines

Nice to Have

• Proficiency with Git and GitHub, including branching strategies and code review workflows
• Experience with AI-assisted coding tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or similar)
• Familiarity with code competition and benchmarking tools
• Strong knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP/HTTPS, MQTT, WebSockets)
• Experience working within Jira or similar project/issue tracking platforms
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders

Requirements

• Experience: 5+ years of professional software development experience, with at least 2 years in a lead or senior role
• Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent work experience
• Licenses/Certifications: Relevant AWS certifications a plus
• Location: Must be US-based; Kentucky-local strongly preferred
