Cloud Solution Architcet (all genders) with focus Sovereign Cloud
Indexed description
You play an active role in building a sovereign private cloud in our own data center consistently based on open-source technologies. In the initial phase, your focus is on evaluating and selecting suitable components through proof-of-concept implementations. You will work closely with modern, automated infrastructures and actively contribute to the open-source community.
💼 Your mission – or, in other words: your tasks
- You build and operate a reliable, open-source-based private cloud.
- You conduct proof of concepts, evaluate technologies, and make well-founded architectural decisions.
- You develop and run our infrastructure as code (IaC) and design efficient CI/CD pipelines.
- You establish observability solutions and continuously drive automation forward.
- You actively contribute to the open-source projects we use (upstream contributions).
- You analyze and resolve complex incidents at the second and third support levels.
- You create and maintain clear, sustainable technical documentation.
Skills
🧠 What you bring to the table – besides the desire to make a difference
- You confidently administer Linux (networking, storage, systemd, performance) and work with infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Ansible, Terraform/OpenTofu).
- You can code (e.g., Python, Go, or Bash) and are familiar with container and orchestration platforms like Docker/Podman and Kubernetes.
- You are proficient with Git and experienced in open-source workflows (pull requests, code reviews, issue tracking).
- You have hands-on experience with open-source cloud, virtualization, or storage solutions (e.g., OpenStack, Proxmox, Ceph).
- You bring on-premise experience, including bare-metal provisioning (e.g., MAAS, Ironic, PXE, Redfish) and data center networking (e.g., spine-leaf, BGP-EVPN, VXLAN, SDN).
- You are familiar with observability and CI/CD tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions).
- You have exposure to compliance frameworks (e.g., BSI C5, ISO 27001) and understand open-source licensing.
- You work in an open, collaborative way and bring a strong open-source mindset.
- You take a pragmatic, technology-agnostic approach and are comfortable working across the full stack.
- You are fluent in English, both written and spoken; German language skills are a plus.
