Platform Engineer | Robotics, Kubernetes, Linux, Multi-Cloud | £80,000 - £100,000
A high growth technology business is looking for a Platform Engineer to help build the infrastructure, tooling and deployment capability behind a genuinely impressive robotics platform operating in live warehouse environments.
This is not a traditional infrastructure role. The business is developing autonomous robotics technology used in real world industrial settings, where cloud infrastructure, internal platforms and edge connected systems all need to work seamlessly together. It is a genuinely interesting engineering challenge, with the platform team playing a key role in making sure software can be deployed quickly, reliably and at scale.
Platform Engineer | Key responsibilities
- Build and operate cloud infrastructure supporting user-facing applications, internal services and high velocity deployments
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines and developer tooling used by multiple engineering teams
- Manage containerised environments using Docker and Kubernetes across a multi-cloud setup
- Build and maintain infrastructure as code using Terraform and Terraform Cloud
- Support monitoring, logging, observability and alerting across production systems
- Improve reliability, automation, security hardening and overall platform maturity
- Mentor more junior engineers and help promote DevOps and platform engineering best practice across the team
Platform Engineer | Requirements
- Strong background in platform engineering, DevOps, infrastructure engineering or site reliability engineering
- Strong hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP or Azure, ideally across more than one provider
- Strong experience with Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform and modern CI/CD tooling
- Experience building automation frameworks, deployment pipelines and self-service developer platforms
- Good programming skills in Go or TypeScript
- Strong understanding of observability, monitoring and incident response tooling
- Comfortable working in fast paced, evolving environments where priorities can shift
- Any experience in robotics, IoT, edge computing or hardware-adjacent environments would be highly beneficial
- Previous scale-up or high growth technology experience would be a plus
Platform Engineer | Why this role is interesting
The role combines modern platform engineering with the challenges of supporting robotics and real world operational technology, which makes the technical problems far more interesting than standard infrastructure work.
It would suit someone who enjoys building, automating and improving engineering systems, and who wants their work to have a visible impact in a business developing genuinely impressive technology.
If you are a Platform Engineer, Senior DevOps Engineer or Senior Infrastructure Engineer looking for a role with more technical variety and real world complexity, please get in touch.
