Morey is a growing telematics company building next generation connected solutions that bridge devices, data, and the cloud. We’re looking for a hands-on Platform Engineer.

Morey is a technology company that helps organizations connect, manage, and optimize critical systems through software, cloud platforms, managed services, and IoT solutions. For more than 90 years, we’ve built our reputation on solving complex problems, creating long-term partnerships, and delivering reliable technology that powers real-world operations.

Today, our teams design and support solutions that bridge devices, data, and business systems. We work across cloud infrastructure, connected products, data platforms, and custom software to help customers turn information into action.

At Morey, we value curiosity, ownership, continuous learning, and collaboration. We look for people who enjoy solving difficult problems, challenging assumptions, and building technology that creates measurable impact.

Position Summary

We’re looking for a Platform Engineer to help design, build, and evolve the cloud platforms that power connected devices, data pipelines, APIs, and customer-facing applications.

This role sits at the intersection of software engineering, cloud infrastructure, and IoT. You’ll work across the full lifecycle of a platform—from device telemetry and data ingestion to APIs, infrastructure automation, observability, and deployment pipelines.

The ideal candidate enjoys understanding how systems work end-to-end, embraces modern development practices, and leverages AI-assisted engineering tools to accelerate delivery while maintaining quality and security.

What You’ll Do

  • Design, build, and maintain cloud-native platform services on AWS.
  • Develop backend services and APIs using TypeScript and Python.
  • Build and support serverless architectures using AWS Lambda and related services.
  • Design data models that balance performance, scalability, and cost.
  • Create and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, CDK, or similar tools.
  • Support IoT and connected-device workflows, including telemetry ingestion and device-to-cloud communication.
  • Design and implement REST APIs used by internal and external applications.
  • Improve deployment processes, automation, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Investigate platform issues and trace data flows across systems to identify root causes.
  • Implement security best practices including secret management, access controls, and least-privilege permissions.
  • Collaborate across engineering, product, and operations teams to deliver reliable solutions.
  • Use AI-assisted development tools to improve engineering velocity, automate repetitive tasks, and accelerate problem solving.

Required Qualifications

Technical Skills

  • Strong experience developing software with:
  • TypeScript
  • Python
  • AWS experience with core services
  • Experience building, testing, and debugging AWS Lambda functions
  • Experience designing and building REST APIs
  • Strong understanding of data modeling
  • Experience implementing Infrastructure as Code using:
  • Terraform
  • AWS CDK
  • Or equivalent tools
  • Strong Git proficiency
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and deployment environments
  • Experience using modern AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode, Cursor, Windsurf, or similar platforms.
  • Demonstrated ability to use AI tools to accelerate development workflows beyond simple code completion.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Amazon Cognito or similar identity and authentication platforms.
  • Experience with event-driven architectures and messaging systems, including:
  • Pub/Sub patterns
  • Queues
  • MQTT
  • Event streaming technologies
  • Familiarity with observability practices, including:
  • Logging
  • Metrics
  • Alerting
  • Operational dashboards
  • Understanding of connectivity fundamentals, including:
  • TLS and certificate management
  • Cellular and SIM-based connectivity
  • Device-to-cloud communication patterns
  • Experience working with IoT platforms, connected devices, telemetry systems, or edge computing environments.

Why Join Morey?

  • Work on meaningful technology that connects the physical and digital worlds.
  • Help shape modern cloud and IoT platforms used by real customers.
  • Collaborate with experienced engineers and technology leaders.
  • Gain exposure to software, infrastructure, data, and connected-device ecosystems.
  • Be part of a company that values innovation, continuous improvement, and long-term relationships.
