Senior Cloud Engineer

LOCATION: Hanoi/ Ho Chi Minh

JOB DESCRIPTION

GEM is looking for a Senior Cloud Engineer with strong hands-on AWS experience to design, build, and operate secure, scalable, and highly available cloud platforms.

This role will support cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes/container platforms, security controls, observability, automation, and production operations for application, data, and AI/ML workloads.

• Design, build, and maintain AWS infrastructure, including networking, compute, storage, database, security, and platform services.
• Implement Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and/or CloudFormation.
• Build and operate container platforms using AWS EKS and/or ECS.
• Configure and manage AWS networking services such as VPC, Transit Gateway, Route 53, Load Balancer, Security Groups, and routing.
• Implement cloud security and governance controls, including IAM, encryption, logging, monitoring, and access management.
• Set up and maintain observability using CloudWatch, CloudTrail, logging, alerting, dashboards, and operational runbooks.
• Support production operations, incident response, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, performance optimization, and cost optimization.
• Work closely with Cloud Platform Lead, onshore Senior Cloud Engineers, Application, Data, DevOps, and Security teams.
• Contribute to reusable cloud architecture patterns, automation scripts, and platform best practices.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

• 4-6 years of hands-on cloud engineering experience on AWS.
• Experience designing and operating production-grade AWS infrastructure.
• Strong knowledge of AWS networking: VPC, Transit Gateway, Route 53, Load Balancers, Security Groups, and routing.
• Hands-on experience with AWS services: IAM, EC2, EKS/ECS, RDS/DynamoDB, S3, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, Systems Manager.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code: Terraform and/or CloudFormation.
• Good Linux administration skills.
• Experience with Docker and containerised application deployment.
• Experience with CI/CD tools such as CodePipeline, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar.
• Scripting experience using Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
• Good understanding of cloud security, monitoring, logging, incident response, and operational best practices.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate with distributed technical teams.
• Fluent proficiency in technical English.

PREFERRED SKILLS

• AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate or Professional.
• AWS Certified SysOps Administrator – Associate.
• AWS Certified Security Specialty is a plus.
• Experience with AWS Well-Architected Framework, cloud governance, cost optimization, or enterprise cloud platform teams.
• Experience supporting data platforms or AI/ML workloads on AWS is a plus.
